 I adopted Sharona back in January and wanted to give you an update! Her name is Kailey now and she's loving her new home! She loves being the ruler of the house and doing as she pleases! Her favorite new toy is the "Laser Monster" which she obsesses over and is quite funny!

Adoption update!

Hello ! My name is Savannah Lauritzen Glad. 4 Years ago (This June?) I adopted a dog from you guys.

She was from a litter of "pyrenese lab mix puppies" Her name was Ruby. Joy now <3.

I just wanted to take a second to thank everyone there for being so wonderful.
Joy has been the love of my life since the day she came home with me.
She is my best friend. My Child. My Everything.

I drive her to the marymoore park (45 minutes away) every saturday and have for years. She loves going to the dog park. Every year she has a birthday party.
She's cost me thousand with various skin issues, and other general dog health problems.

But I would sell everything I own to take care of her. She is truly my life.
My mother and father call her their "grandog" she adores them and stays there if
I randomly go on vacation and if she can't go with she goes there.

Bosko the Boston

This is a little late in coming but I am finally getting a chance to let you know how Bosko is doing. First off we changed his name to Bugsy and we did this for two reasons, first; he didn't answer to Bosko, and second; no one could remember it. He eats well, sleeps well, and has other dogs to play with. We have taken him to the dog park a couple times so we could let him off his leash to run. Consequently we have put a red harness on him so we can spot the blur as he runs past.

 

I am finding that he is a smart dog but has the attention span of a flea. If my job holds out the plan is to enroll him in obedience classes in May.

I received a phone call asking for pictures of Molly who I adopted last month from you. We are both doing well and we will be going to our first puppy class on Saturday. She has been to the Vet and is in great shape. Typical puppy, bouncy and full of energy, ready to chew on anything. She is a sweetheart and I am so glad she is part of my family.

Leonetti update

Hello,

 

Our little Leo is growing into a very handsome young man. At his last vet visit he was 17 weeks and weighed 31 lbs. He is very popular patient with the vet staff. It is so cute the way he sits and waits patiently for his Dr. to come in the room to see him. He is such a good little man that I sometimes forget he is still a puppy.

He and Cian are the best of friends and enjoy their playtime and naptime together.

Leo is the one that rescued us. He came into our lives when we needed him most. He has quickly become his mama's little man and has made a new place in our hearts in which he fits like a missing piece to the puzzle.

 

Thank you to everyone that kept him going long enough for us to find him and bring into our family.

Duke (Salt) update!

Hi Homeward Pet Staff,

Duke (aka: Salt) is doing great!  He and his big sister Casady are so happy together.  He follows her everywhere.  He loves going to Marymoore Park and we also have a dog park in Monroe...closer to home Wiggly Field.  Duke and Casady have both started a basic obedience class together and are doing great at it.  He is everything Casady could want for a little brother!  Will send more pics soon.

My boyfriend and I adopted Tasha on Feb 24. She is doing very well. We have a large fenced in yard that she loves to run very fast in, playing what we refer to as the Zoom Zoom Zoom game.  She does very well with strangers and children. Behavior is pretty good, though we still have a lot to learn (probably us more than her). Included are some before and after photos involving a monkey. The monkey is no more (don't anybody worry I didn't let her eat the stuffing).

Happy Tails - Josie (Baby)

 

Hello!  Just thought we'd send an update on Josie (formerly Baby).

 

We picked Josie up from Homeward on January 30, so she has been with us for about a month and a half.  At the time we got her, she was still learning to trust humans; she kept her tail tucked between her legs for the first two days we had her.  However, she has made great progress -- she loves being around her mom and dad (maybe a little too much... working on some separation anxiety!) and willingly gives her two kitty sisters their space.  She is getting better with meeting strangers, and we are still working on getting her to play with other dogs at the dog park.

 

Josie has done a great job learning some tricks as well as her manners.  She did not appear to know how to sit on command when we got her; now, not only can she sit, but she also knows down, shake, roll over and stay.  In addition, she has learned great leash and mealtime manners.

 

We're so glad to have found Josie, and that Homeward took such great care of her before we were able to take her home.  She has turned out to be a great fit for our family!

Happy Tails - Mia

We wanted to update you on Mia, the German Shepherd-Husky mix we adopted
in December 2008. She has truly become part of the family!

Initially she was pretty shy with us, but immediately able to tell us
when she needed to go outside. She loved the snow and our big yard.
We've had one bout of tummy trouble, and a few chewed items when
separation anxiety was just too much for her, so we are learning as much
as she is. We're working on crate training, though she is very nervous
with the crate and it is taking a very long time. She is learning to
ride in the car; she finally knows we aren't going to give her up when
we go for a ride. She knows sit, shake, off, and lie down; loves to
play fetch, and enjoys going for long walks and runs. Her leash manners
are still a work in progress, those pesky squirrels outside are a bit
too tempting to chase.

As expected, she follows me around all day, only now is she beginning to
let me walk out of her sight. She and the cat have figured out how to
live together, though both could use some more lessons on how hard they
can play together! The kids love her, and she gets very excited when
the school bus comes.

All in all, it has been a great fit, and we all couldn't be happier, Mia
included! Attached is a picture of Mia playing with toys on her bed.

Boscoe

I got your voice mail and wanted to give you an update on Boscoe. 

So far he's doing well I would say.  He's always extremely excited to see me when I get home.  When he and his playmate Barkley are in the mood, they can play round and play round and play round forever.  It's fun to watch them go at it.  I recently got the fence in my backyard all fixed up, so the pups have a great place to run around.  Boscoe is quite a runner and has some serious hops.  This dog can jump higher than I ever would've imagined!  Straight up, he can easily get a foot and a half off the ground.  It's pretty impressive.

 

Boscoe is still a little shy around new people, but he's opening up more and more.  He was recently introduced to my nephew who is 6 months old.  Boscoe was a little shy, but still very interested in the baby.  My nephew only shared the interest.    We're getting out to new places and Boscoe is getting to know his neighborhood. 

 

All in all, Boscoe is well, and seems like a pretty happy dog.

Jewel Update....

I received your call on Sunday and wanted to get back to you.....Jewel (now Stella) is doing fabulous....her and Nela have bonded and are getting along great! Update on Chewy

  Thought I would send you an update of Chewy.  The granddaughters adore him and my husband says he is the best thing that has happened to us in a long time.  He rules the roost around here.

   Left him one day at a very good kennel here and he was a perfect gentleman.  Was unsure of leaving him at first because he really likes it when he is with the two of us.

   Once again thank you for providing a wonderful service and uniting us with the perfect dog.

Ella (FKA Dora)

Good afternoon.  We wanted to give you an update on Ella, who we adopted from your organization as Dora, on 1/21/09.

She is our second adopted lab pup, though the first from your organization.  You never can tell fully what to expect, but we at least had an idea so we were and have been quite prepared (of course, we notice many differences too but that's why we love the dogs and cats so much...all the different personalities and behaviors certainly keep us on our toes.)

Ella has settled in nicely to her new home.  She can never get enough of trying to figure out the cats and she still tries to "play" with them.  She has even picked up some of their behaviors, mainly the "swat" when she wants another dog or cat to get out of her face.  She is still quite a chewer/nibbler and so we are working on training her to get out of the habit of chewing non-dog toy/chew things as best as we can and we are on the road to getting that significantly lessened.  Her backyard is quite large and she takes full advantage of the space, running circles around the full perimeter of the yard or chasing sticks and balls; she is getting much better with the concept of "fetch".  Ella is also getting more confident with being on her own in the yard for awhile so one of us doesn't have to always be out with her.  As soon as we got her home she was able to get around our house on her own, up and down the stairs inside and outside, navigating the hallway and rooms.  We think she is very nearly potty-trained and has very few and occasional accidents in the house.  She enjoys meeting new people and dogs to varying extents- she'll go up to any adult or child and is only a little shyer with dogs.  She is an incredible snuggler and will sleep on laps or with any part of her in, on, or next to a lap.  If someone starts petting her, she will lean up against the person's legs then lay down on their feet while she gets petted.  We are crate training her, which is not her favorite thing, but she can typically go for 6-7 hours before she needs to get up in the morning.

The weather seems to faze her only slightly.  She is not a huge fan of walking right out into the rain, but she will go out and will even play a little before she wants to come back in.  She seems to have loved the snows, eating snow, making puppy snow angels, and running around in it.  Of course the sunshine seems to be her favorite and she will spend the most time in the yard on her own when she has sunshine to roll and play in.

This week she starts her first training class (a group session at Positive Dog Training School) and we are looking forward to the socialization.  We took training classes with our last dog so we have been working on training pretty much since we got her.  She is excellent with "sit", "down", "shake", and "high five."  She is working fairly well on "come", "off", and "stay" and we are constantly working on "leave it".  She has started barking a little more though usually only after any of the neighbor dogs start up so we are working on that too.  Oh, and "fetch" of course, which we are now finding she is pretty good at until she gets bored or distracted by something else.

She just finished her last set of puppy shots, exams, and tests and has basically been given a clean bill of health.  We look forward to taking her to dog parks now and out hiking and to beaches and such.  She is now about 24 pounds and full of energy and joy.

We are so in love with Ella and love her (even in the less good behavior times) and would not trade her for anything.  Our last lab dog was also a rescue dog and though he had epilepsy, which was unknown at time of adoption due to no family history/info, we were still looking forward to getting another rescue dog and could not imagine going to a breeder for a dog.

Hello,

I wanted to give you all an update on Flounder (now named Bailey).  Bailey has adjusted quite well to life in his new home - he is still somewhat hesitant in new situations, but is much less nervous than when we first brought him home.  He LOVES his tennis ball and is also fond of his Kong (especially when it is loaded with treats).  He's also quite the snuggler when anyone is on the floor - he thinks blankets are just for him!  Bailey has been enjoying all of the snow and especially likes catching snowballs and eating them.  Sorry that it took so long to send an update, but here are some pictures to make up for it.  =)

Paul and Mary

Sorry it has taken so long to update you on how Paul and Mary (now
Peter and Piper) are doing. We adopted them February 18. They quickly
made themselves at home and have been living like royalty ever since.
The attached photos should indicate how well they have adapted. They
are such sweet kitties and so devoted to each other. They love to
snuggle with us, they purr all the time and they love to play! Their
favorite time to cut loose and tear through the house is about
midnight, so we are working on trying to move that up a little earlier.

We feel so fortunate to have found these wonderful kitties. Thank you
so much for your help!

Madelinethe cat finds her forever home!

 

Just wanted to update you on Maddie's adjustment to her new home, which has been very smooth. She is very loving and friendly, and we all enjoy having her with us. Today she had her first vet visit, she has a clean bill of health, weight 9 lbs, they also did a intestinal parasite exam-centrifuge which came back clear. The cold she had has past and was probably the result of being in a shelter and then the move to our home.
 
Woodhaven Veterinary Clinic was very impressed with all the care Homeward Pets gave to Maddie. Thanks again from us, Maddie was the right cat for us. It's nice to walk in the door and see her sweet little face.

A Rocky Balboa update!

 Hi there! Yes we adopted Rocky this past Sunday. You know he is the SWEETEST cat ever. I am not sure if it is the Persian in him or what. My 3 kids (5,4, and 1) are so taken with him, and he loves them soooo much. He is so gentle. We bathed him last night and typical of a cat he wasn't too excited. Not once did his claws come out. He "grinned and beared it". We took him to the vet yesterday and he did awesome. He just sat there and purred while the vet cleaned his ears, and took some scrapings of his skin. They are ruling out ringworm, though they think it is his skin from the mats. We took your coupons to Mud Bay yesterday and the kids and I picked out a collar, got him on some super pricey Persian food :) and he is so happy! We will be sending some follow-up pics once his coat has grown back in. He is just so sweet and can't get enough petting, brushing, hugging and loving. Thank you so much for rescuing him and taking such good care of him until we found him. Eventually when Rocky is comfortable with his surroundings, us, and the house, we will be in to get him a "friend". Thank you so much again and we LOVE your organization!!

Hello Homeward!
I am sending an email in response to the phone call I recieved wondering how Lady was doing. She has adjusted very well here and I feel she has always been a part of the family.
 The first night I brought her home she made it clear she was going to sleep with me on my bed.Its alright though, I actually get jelous when she sleeps with guests on the guest bed.She loves to play fetch and play with her squeeky toy frank, its amazing how much stuffing is still coming out of that thing!.
 She has a gated area that she likes to hang out in and catch some sun.I take her to the dog park at Marymoore once a week, she loves to make new friends, but doesnt know what to think of great danes that try to play with her.She also goes for walks on the Snoqualmie Valley Trail with my dad.
 She is still shy about meeting new people but it doesnt take her long to warm up to them. There are still a few people she has yet to befriend, but I know she will.
 All in all Lady is a wonderful companion. Thank You Homeward! for taking her in and allowing me to be the owner of such a wonderful dog!.
