Felix the cat thanks lauren for her help

Lauren recently held a bake sale and collected quite a bit of money to help the cats and dogs at Homeward. Felix the cat is obviously quite impressed by her!

Ziggy and me are so happy together!

From the minute I laid eyes on Ziggy I fell in love! Being an Aries, he immediately adapted to my apartment, hiding for only thirty seconds! He loves his kitty tree and has a raccoon friend that visits his window frequently! I love to talk to him and he talks right back, and loves chasing after his little rattling mice! He loves Wellness food, sleeping on my stomach and knocking things off of the arm of the couch (too cute)! We're so happy together, thank you Homeward Pet Adoption, I've found a true star in Ziggy Stardust!!!

The Shy Kitty Club

We have a few cats at the shelter right now that are just itching to get out of here. They are the kind of cats that will shine in a quieter household environment. The busy and sometimes noisy shelter is getting them down! Taco, Sophie, Molly, Delta and Billy are such sweet cats-just in search of a warm lap and a little kindness. Can you help?

Randy

Dear Friends at Homeward Pet Adoption,
It has been nearly a month since we adopted Randy, and we couldn't be
more pleased! He has proved to be a very smart dog who really wants to
learn and he responds well to training. He also is fabulous with our
kids and seems to be attached to the baby (this could be because Fisher
always smells and tastes so interesting!) We are slowly working on his
behavior with other dogs and he has had a successful and happy play-date
with two black lab puppies. He is doing excellent on a leash, as long as
we use a "Halti" collar; he heels wonderfully and enjoys his walks.
Randy does have one strange phobia--the riding lawnmower. It is very
scary to him, even if it is just sitting in the yard. We have been
amazed at how Randy has become an irreplaceable part of our family in
such a short amount of time. I am attaching the few pictures of him that
I have been able to take--he seems a bit camera shy. Thanks so much for
allowing us the honor of adopting this great dog and giving him a second
chance.
Sincerely,
Rachael Baldwin

The shelter needs supplies

In case you are going to the grocery store in the near future, Homeward could really use bottles of bleach. We also are low on  clean towels if you have any extra ones at home gathering dust! Donations to us are tax-deductible!

2 special cats at Homeward that are looking for special homes

2 Special Needs Cats- Puff and Pippin

Our first extra special feline is Puff who has been with us for awhile. She was rescued from another shelter and has had a difficult time adapting to shelter life. Puff does not like other cats and unfortunately it is necessary to share the room she is in with them. This 4 year old does have her own cage and we have been working quite a bit with her to get her to like us humans. We have a feather on a stick that we use to rub and scratch her and she just melts when we do that. She will sometimes let us rub her head with our hands (on her terms of course) and we are hopeful that in the right environment she will appreciate her owner.

An ideal place for Puff would be an indoor barn or work space. She has always been an indoor cat so we don’t know how she would do in the great (and scary) outdoors. She may choose to be friendly (again when it’s her idea) or she may choose to keep to herself. This beautiful grey tabby could be a great deterrent to a rodent population. She would need to be an only cat –she wants to be the diva of her own domain! Could you please help Puff get out of her cage and have a real life again?

Pippin is a senior special needs kitty who just needs someone to love and care for her now that she is in her golden years. This beautiful blue-eyed Siamese was found abandoned and it’s amazing she even survived being an older cat that was also declawed. She has spent some time in foster care and was a great companion- Pippin liked to follow her foster mom from room to room and enjoyed a nice comfy lap to curl up in. She is very petite- barely 6 pounds and will need to be given injections of fluids ever other day. We would be willing to place her in a long-term foster situation so that we would still be responsible for her long-term medical needs. Pippin’s ideal new owner/foster would be someone who is comfortable giving her subcutaneous fluids on occasion and would enjoy a lovely older lap cat.

If you think that you might be able to open up your heart to either of these special kitties, please contact Laurel at Homeward.
