Update on Oreo (Maya)

Hello,

It seemed like quite a few people were pretty fond of Oreo (who is now Maya) when we adopted her a couple of days so I just wanted to send a quick update. She has been doing GREAT and we have had absolutely NO problems. She has been enjoying her walks around Capitol Hill and has warmed up to us and even strangers when they approach her. We  took her to the no leash dog park at Magnuson park yesterday and she loved it. She got along with all the other dogs (which there was a lot) and she would even return to us when we called her. I don't think she necessarily knows her new name but it seems like she at least recognizes our voices. She has also been able to go on a couple of small runs which she seems to enjoy and does great besides the occasional distractions and stops to sniff. There have also been NO accidents in the house and she is already comfortable walking all around the apartment. She will go into her crate with no problem. We left her outside the crate but locked in a room last night for about an hour and half and when we returned she was just hanging out on the bed. The room was exactly how we left it.

She does know the commands sit, come, and lay down. She has been sleeping on our bed as well with no problems. It also seems like she enjoys car rides so we have been able to take her everywhere we've gone so far.

We were able to give her a bath this morning with no problem besides the usual wet shake every once in a while. She has an appointment on Tuesday with her new vet in order to establish care and we were also already able to purchase pet insurance for her.

I want to thank you all again (especially Jim) for all of your help. It was a great experience visiting Homeward Pet and we definitely got the perfect pet for us. I attached a couple of pictures that were taken with my iphone so they're not the best quality but I will make sure to email some better ones in the coming weeks.

Best,
Joseph  &  Sergio
