Update on Rainier and Everest

I would like to give you guys an update on the two kittens we adopted back in late August of this year. They were two tuxedo black-and-white kittens named Rainier and Everest, though we renamed them Reno and Tifa, respectively. I have attached several pictures for you to gush over. These pictures were taken within the first couple of weeks after we brought them home. We have several other pictures and a few videos, but I don't have them on hand at the moment. I will have to send them to you later.

Reno and Tifa have adapted to their home wonderfully. They have become sociable cats and are very friendly to everyone who comes to visit. They are especially fond of pairing up to invade an open lap. This was not a problem when they were wee little kittens, but they're definitely starting to grow big, and there is only so much lap space available. This often causes snuggle time to turn into wrestle time, which is quite interesting considering that the lap becomes the wrestle arena.

It's quite amusing to watch our friends try to tell the difference between the two littermates. Like the parents of identical twins, we have no trouble telling them apart. To us, they have developed very distinct characteristics. Tifa has that white stripe along the center of her nose, while Reno has a smaller white speck on the left of his nose. Reno's tail has become very bushy and pronounced, and of course, being the boy, he has grown larger than Tifa. As you can tell in the "poofy_white_chest.jpg" image, when Tifa sits up straight, she sticks out her chest proudly as she observes her surroundings. It is very endearing.

Their personalities have also started to develop. Reno is a very rambunctious boy. He's fairly stubborn, particularly when we try to bathe him or trim his claws. He's a bit like the Lion from the Wizard of Oz, though; he scares more easily. We initially kept Reno and Tifa secluded in one bedroom to help them adapt to their new home, and when we first let them out into the living room, Reno ran back into the bedroom and hid under the bed. It was rather sweet. Tifa, on the other hand, is a calmer and more mellow kitten, for the most part. She is sometimes mischievous and catches us by surprise when, for example, she sneaks behind the TV and plays with the cables, or jumps onto the dining room table (which we've forbidden). Even a squirt bottle doesn't seem to be a deterrent for her, so she keeps us on our toes.

The two little darlings have stolen our hearts, and we love having them be a part of our little "family". They are very precious to us, and we hope to spend many long years taking care of them. We really appreciate the work that you guys do to care for animals and find them good homes. I have just made a $100 donation through your website. I hope it will assist you in keeping your animals safe and warm during this cold holiday season. Happy holidays to all of you, and take care!
