Lucy

It will be five years this year since we adopted Lucy (in September 2009), and she has reached her senior years of 10. She's one of our family members, a loyal companion, and the best "gift" I ever gave myself.

Once Lucy's familiarity and assurance kicked in to her new environment, her shyness wore off.  She began to expose her real character and wonderful personality. She learned that given a third chance was possible and she flourished as much as she knew how to. Living indoors, she learned the real comforts of home, plus she's given many outdoor opportunities to exercise and romp in her large yard. She has made friends with our dog friendly neighbors. Lucy has also befriended her most promising suitor George, a German Shorthair Pointer who lives across the street.

There are many nearby wooded trails around our neighborhood for us to trek on/off leash each morning for about 2 to 3 miles or so. She has exposed me to many pleasant experiences of meeting fellow dog walkers and their pooches and getting fresh air - rain or shine, all while providing me the daily walking exercise that's physically beneficial. At times when we walk next to a quiet road, Lucy will put on the brakes without notice, then sit while giving people passing by a comical experience while watching her strong will illustrated. A couple perks Lucy looks forward to is her brushing every morning and her evening massage before she retires.

Thank you Homeward Pet for giving Lucy the opportunity she needed to find a forever home.
