Handsome Sam the malamute

Sam and I met in April of 2010. I was looking for a companion dog to help with severe anxiety attacks and other problems brought on by PTSD. I wanted a companion that can be taught to do what's best for me in situations where I am unable to think clearly. Sammy fit the bill. He knew right away that I would be his Alpha and take care of him like I care for my three year old son.

We train for an hour, 15 minute intervals, per day. He fully understands sit, stay, down, leave it, and mark (to urinate). He is very smart and uses many different tones in barks and whines to tell me what he needs. His pulling on the leash has decreased a great deal and sits instead of pulling excessively when he gets excited. His food and treat aggression has completely disappeared, I can remove his food bowl while he eats or put my hand in his food bowl.

Sam and my three year son Archie are best of friends. Archie knows how to act around dogs and gives Sam proper respect so that no problems occur between the two of them. If the two become too excited during play, Sam removes himself to lay down in my room. Every dog needs a boy.

Sam is an important part of our family, thank you for bringing us together.
