Whiskers & Quasar (now Luna & Keyser)

Just wanted to give you an update on these 2 little guys. We did change their names, Whiskers (female) is now Luna. I changed the name because she loves loves loves Tuna and it’s about the only wet food she’ll eat, and she’s super active at night. Quasar (male) is now Keyser.  It’s close to the old name, and named after one of my husbands favorite fictional movie characters, Keyser Soze, from The Unusual Suspects.

When we first brought them home they were shy and intimidated. After a few days they wanted to explore the house, and now they are very open, exploring everything, they’ve definitely made our house their home. They have special places they like to play, special nap areas, and they’ve taken over the rug and chair in the front of the fireplace!  Luna is continuing to take her time to trust us, she’ll spend time with us on the couch when she wants to be brushed or wants a treat, but she likes to keep to herself in her window seat or on her kitty tree. Luna just loves to watch the ducks on the lake and I hung some birdfeeders outside the big windows by her kitty tree. She sits there for hours watching. Keyser is more active and vocal, he’s always trying to talk to Luna or instigate play fights with her! Keyser has no problem following me around, have to be careful not to step on him sometimes. Keyser has really opened up and wakes us up in the morning by rubbing his whiskers on our face or licking our face.

They are the cutest little kitties, and we love them so much. Thank you again for loving them before we had them, I’m so glad Keyser and Luna are a part of our family, our house is now a home because of them.

Mufasa (now Finnegan)

I just wanted to give you an update on Mufasa who we renamed Finnegan. :)

He's an absolute joy! I really can't say enough about this little bundle of love. Him and his big brother Riley (another rescue from Homeward, although 14 years ago!) are best buds. Riley may be older, however he has always been a very active boy. He seems so content to finally have a companion again.

They play all the time and Finn is a speed demon! He plays hide and seek with us, holds my face when he thinks I need a little exfoliation and has a fascination with curtains, watching tv and playing with kitty apps on our tablets.

We feel blessed that he chose us for his forever family. :)

My 3 Adopted 'Strays'

The word stray has such a bad connotation - an image of a starving street cat roaming around the neighborhood. We recently adopted 2 teenage kitties, Whiffen and Minx, that had been brought in to a local city shelter as ‘strays’ and transferred to Homeward. They came home to join their big brother ‘Big Easy’ who was also labeled a stray when we adopted him 2 years ago. They all are fabulous housecats - gentle, loving, with great litterbox habits, and none of the 3 have ever shown any interest in sneaking outside. All 3 are live entertainment and have brought such joy into our household!

Calla

I was told that Calla had been a stay that wandered into a woman’s house looking for food. The lady feed her and let her rest for several days before turning her over to the shelter in Ellensburg.

When she came to Homeward Pet she was very skinny, fur singed, and had very bad case ear mites. I adopted her almost 3 years ago and she has fit in perfectly with our life style. She went everywhere with us including my son’s house, where she would make herself right at home by climbing on the dog to fall asleep.

A year ago I lost my husband and now she is never very far away from me. She enjoys pleasing everyone that comes to visit by rubbing up against them and jumping in their laps. I couldn’t imagine my life without her.

Mousey

Mousey is doing great! She is getting bigger every single day and getting stronger as well! She's jumping on and off the couch with ease. She eats and drinks water regularly as well. She loves to cuddle at night and play all day long! She's very curious and likes to wander everywhere!

Thanks,
Lindsey

Pushinka (now Inka)

Inka, which is what we have begun calling her, has seamlessly entered our family. Her fur coat, which was so coarse and frizzy when we got her, has started to smooth and soften itself through the addition of pumpkin, vitamins oils, etc into her food (which Diego has requested in his food). Diego and Inka are partners in crime. I work from home and they cuddle up together on their bed in my office. They both jump and spin in circles when they see their leashes being taken out of the closet. They manage to sleep on the pillows on the couch they are specifically told they shouldn't sleep on (but how could you say no to their faces?). And lastly, they snuggle under the sheets of our bed, often taking all the blankets to warm their 8 pound bodies while leaving us freezing.

Inka has become such a wonderful addition and it's amazing how much energy she has in her 6 year old body. She arguably has more energy and spunk than our 3 year old Diego!

Rooster

I cannot believe how acclimated Rooster is to our home. He doesn't jump off the couch when we walk into the room, let's the kids (who are almost 4, 6, and 8) play with him, pet him, and pick him up. He let me furminate him and cut his nails.

He goes into his kennel with no issue and wears a harness with no issue. Not sure if he will let me attach the leash but we will try this week. I will also try the car soon if he acclimates to me closing the door on him in the kennel. My hope is to bring him back and forth to work.

We are so excited about this little guy!
