Tiff & Malcolm (now Lucy & Linus)

A BIG THANK YOU to you for all your help selecting two kittens that would get along well together.  Malcolm and Tiff (now Linus and Lucy) play, eat, and sleep harmoniously.  And they get constant attention from the three other cat-loving adults in our household.

Thanks again!

Claribel (now Bella)

Update on Claribel, now Bella, whom we adopted from your shelter April 2012.

She is doing great, we absolutely adore her and couldn't be happier with her! She is a total cuddler and sleeps curled up next to me every night.

Thank you so much for saving her and giving us the chance to adopt her. You guys are awesome!

Gabriel (now Teddy)

It’s been a couple of months now and Teddy has settled in nicely. He is a lot more active than he previously was, and he and I have bonded wonderfully. He is such an amazing little dog and I’m so, so happy I adopted him. He loves protecting the house, going for walks, rides in the car, fetching in the big backyard, and sleeping on the pillow right next to me.

Thanks again for all your help in adopting him!

Tiffany & Thomas (now Ethel & Merle)

Thanks for reaching out to check on how the former Tiffany and Thomas are doing. I've renamed them Ethel and Merle. Not sure if you all remember the old Ray Stevens song "The Streak," but it fits Ethel as she races around my apartment.

Ethel was comfortable and curious the minute I brought her home. It's taking Merle all a little while to adjust, but we're settling in and enjoying getting to know each other. Ethel is a great cuddler and is interested in everything anyone does. Merle is still skittish, but he's learning to not flee the minute I move. He's learning to trust as he learns exactly how much he loves to be pet and brushed. I know he'll come around eventually. He watches Ethel and I, and I suspect he wants in on the love action.

Thanks for all you do.

He's a happy cat and settled in to his new home quickly. He's a very sweet guy.

Abbey (now Abi)

Abbey is a fabulous little girl! HPAC removed both of her eyes due to an infection, she recovered well and is now in a new home with a doggy sister and loving mom. We received this message and these photos from her new mom.

"Abi is settling in perfectly! She is the sweetest dog & has a great personality! She's already sleeping with me & is quite the bed hog! Abi loves to sleep in too, this morning she didn't want to get out of bed.

Abi & Jeze are still getting to know each other, but we haven't had any issues. She hasn't had 1 accident in the house or her kennel. She's already completely house broken.

Thanks again for all your help."

"Abi has a new hair-do! And she is helping pick out her pumpkin!"

"Would like to send you these pics of Apollo which we adopted from you."

We received a couple of photos from Apollo's adoptive family. Apollo was adopted back in April of this year, and it looks like this handsome guy is loving life now!

Bree & Suzy

Hi all,

Just wanted to send you some pics of them both in their new home.

Bree of course explored everything right away; Suzy headed off for the closet, then under the bed for several hours but after many checks on her and gentle voices she finally came out on her own and took a look around. They both spent the night on the green and yellow quilt by the window and I think that's going to be their permanent spot.

Bree comes up on the bed two or three times a night to check in, as does Suzy now that she's becoming more confident. I woke up this morning to Bree napping beside me, Suzy jumped up after she realized I was awake.

Bree really enjoys the cat toys, I have a 'ball within a ring' toy that she really favors, as well as chasing light plastic golf balls around. I was pleasantly surprised to find out how much they enjoy being brushed, especially Suzy, who as of late sticks to me like a magnet, as does Bree. I'm surprised how docile they are.

As you can see in the pics they are really enjoying watching the birds and squirrels, they also saw one of the neighbor's cats walk past along the top of the fence but didn't seem too upset about it. My previous cat, Ana, used to get pretty angry to see another cat in 'her' backyard.

Hope all of you enjoyed the pics!

Best Wishes,
Michael

Scout

Just a note to tell you how in love we are with Scout! He has been with us for 1 month exactly - and we couldn’t imagine life without him!

We are still working with him on a couple of bad habits, but all in all he is VERY well behaved. While he is not quite sleeping with the kitties yet, they are hissing less at him. J We take him on walks everyday, and haven’t seen any of the “inappropriate behavior” around other dogs we were warned of – though we will continue to be cautious.

Thank you so much for allowing us to be Scout’s forever home – we really are blessed!

Thanks again!

Olivia

Here's my favorite cat of all time, adopted at Homeward Pet in 2008!

The day I picked her up at Homeward Pet, several children in the waiting room called out "She's got Olivia!" as I walked past them to my car with my black beauty in her cage. I felt very lucky to get such a desired kitty, but also a little sad that she wouldn't have any kids to play with at my house! She may not have any kids, but she gets daily morning cuddles under the blankets with both her Mom AND Dad, daily playing with Da Bird, and tasty treats when she comes to her name!  Let's just say our world revolves around this feline!

Thank you,
Amy (Olivia's Human)

Fauna & Roxy (now Abby & Coco)

Hi there, we adopted two kittens from you, Fauna and Roxy, now Abby and Coco. I wanted to share their progress and pics.

Coco remains to be the quieter, smaller, calmer kitten, and she is an excellent hunter, ridding our home of those pesky winged things! She LOVES her head rubbed, the more thorough the better, and loves to snuggle in. Though she is smaller than Abby, she holds her own marvelously, and can also leap very high to get the feather toy. She is amazing.

Abby (the tabby) is the livelier of the duo, often knocking things off of surfaces and enthusiastically leaping around the room. Her energy is endless, but when she does sleep, she picks the funniest positions. She is highly intelligent, and often the ringleader for their kitty escapades.

Abby introduced me to the full-body kitty hug. I never knew a kitten could do this, but when my husband came home from work the day after their adoption, she threw herself onto his chest and actually hugged him. She then proceeded to rub her entire body along his face while giving kitty kisses (nose kisses). I've never met a more affectionate kitten.

Thank you for adopting to us, these kittens offer hours of entertainment everyday, as well as all the affection (and mischief) we can handle. They are the very best addition to our family.

Elliot (now Desi)

Elliott is now "Desi", just settling in after a bath and new hair-do.

Thanks so much!

Miss Thunder & Miss Lightning (now Kami & Ina)

We received a message and many adorable photos from the adopter of these two kitties; the message has been shortened up and we (the HPAC staff) chose the photos that we thought were cutest.

"My name is Jacob, and I am 16 years old.

Our last cat had died, leaving us cat-less. I had fallen into a deep depression. We had gone about 5-6 months without any pets. We had put all the litter boxes away, all the food dishes away, and gave our extra cans of food to our neighbors. The house was always silent.

Then we heard about Homeward Pet.

Two years ago, we adopted two wonderful cats from Homeward Pet. At the time, their names were Miss Thunder and Miss Lightning. They were the odd ones out with their funny tails. Especially Miss Lightning because she was the one with the zigzag, lightning bolt shaped tail. The two were inseparable, and I loved them both instantly the moment I saw them.

We were all very excited when we brought them home. The kittens were so tiny I could hardly stand how cute they were. I spent a lot of time with them, and even did my homework with them. I did everything I could to make sure that we would bond well together. We had gotten a book when we got our cats called “Think Like a Cat.” I read that thing from cover to cover.

All of my friends were excited as well. One friend suggested the Japanese versions of their names, Kaminari (thunder) and Inazuma (lightning). Since then, we have shortened it down to Kami and Ina, or the "KamIna sisters."

I won’t say that I don’t have depression anymore, but the house is no longer empty. The little balls of fur follow me around all the time, and whenever one of us isn’t feeling well, they snuggle up to us. When I get home, they are the first ones to greet me.

We have built a whole carpeted tower for the kitties that they will run at full speed towards, jump halfway up it, and “spider cat” the rest of the way. They have so many little funny habits, from rolling on the floor onto their backs to get attention, all the way to how they don’t like cat treats."

Mia (now Mina)

About a year ago, we came to Homeward Pet to find a new friend. Having just had two cats pass away, we definitely were not looking to adopt a senior kitty. But Mina had these huge blue eyes and she called to us. Literally. She talked & talked to us. We could not resist and we adopted the 12 year old sweety. At 13 now, she is healthy and loved. Her favorite spots are her bed next to the computer and her pillow on the couch.

Thank you, Homeward Pet and Mina for helping to heal our lonely hearts.

Pasha

We adore Pasha, she is the best little kitty. She is so sweet, loves to play, and is totally the queen of the household wanting for nothing. We are thrilled we were able to be matched up!

Thank you!

Kito (now Oppenheimer)

About a year ago, we took home an overlooked adult male cat (then Kito), and dubbed him Oppenheimer (as in the physicist).

As soon as we locked eyes he picked us, and we’re glad he did. He has been keeping us on our toes and filling our home with love! Oppie is an indoor only cat, but we moved to a large property with lots of trees, so his favorite activity is bird and bug watching through the windows. He has a custom built cat tower, so he also likes practicing for kitty Olympics by running down the hall and leaping onto his tower. He loves laser pointers and anything with feathers.

Though he’s now five, he likes to cuddle and knead like a kitten, and gets mad at mom is he doesn’t get dedicated cuddle time every morning before work. Oppie is full of energy and personality, and has been a great fit for our family.

Thank you for uniting us, Homeward!

Gizmo

Thank you all at Homeward Pet for Gizmo's care while transitioning to his new home.

He's such a mellow little guy. He is doing great! Eating well and playing with his little brother, Chipper the Pom. He's a sweet addition to our family.

Schmidt (now Bowser)

We recently adopted a puppy from you named Schmidt, and I just wanted to give you an update!

Schmidt, who we decided to call Bowser, is doing fantastic. He picked up crate training very quickly and barely has accidents in the house! He has been very happy and healthy and loves to run around the yard and explore. He has even made a few doggy friends and gets along great with them. Within the past couple of weeks his ears have decided to perk up which we didn't expect! I am so happy we decided to come check out Homeward Pet Adoption Center when we did. Bowser has just been a joy to be around and I can assure you he is very loved by the whole family. :)

Duke

We love Duke. He is a little rascal and just full of fun. He joined our family this past February and he settled in overnight. There was no stopping him from capturing our hearts!

Thank you for our wonderful dog.

Ash (now Mitzy)

I wanted to update you on Ash, who we now affectionately call Mitzy because of her cute little white mittens on her front paws. She is fitting in so well with my other cat Cooper. He has taken on the role of the big brother and they love to cuddle and he is always cleaning her and making sure she stays out of trouble.

Some of her favorite things to do are run hot laps around the condo with Cooper, and take naps in the bathroom sink of all places! Also, she loves to cuddle. As soon as I sit down on the couch she comes running to nuzzle up as tight in to my neck as she can possibly get. She is always purring and I couldn't imagine NOT having her as a part of our family now. She has brought so much joy and entertainment to us including Cooper. Sometimes I think he looks at her like she's crazy as she wrestles with her toys and uses the chair legs in the kitchen like a jungle gym.

Thank you!
