Oscee is a happy cat. :)

Hello to everyone at Homeward Pets. I just wanted to let you all know that Oscee, the 2 year old tabby girl I adopted just 2 weeks ago has been doing wonderfully! She's become great friends with our other cat Hugo, a male tabby about her age. Here are some pictures for you.

Thank you again for your wonderful work and service. We appreciate it!

Jackson/Miley!

Hello there,

Jackson and Miley (who we've renamed Beta and Delta, respectively) are both doing well, now.. We brought them both to the vet yesterday morning and they both also received a vaccination and a checkup.

They have both adjusted to their new home smoothly, even overcoming a brief encounter with the dastardly and insidious vacuum. Their personalities are absolutely amazing, extremely friendly to their owners and not too shy around strangers. They're playful, affectionate, eating well and exploring vigorously. Beta's going to be trouble for sure, his boldness constrained only by his vertical leap, but not for long.

We're very happy with the little guys and couldn't have hoped for a smoother transition.

Thanks, take care.

Sandy is home!

Hi Katie,

We adopted Sandy a month ago. She was the one featured in your online pic as part of the pile of puppies you had. She is really sweet. She comes to work with us most days and the customers enjoy messing around with her. She is getting along great with our two year old black lab mix, Charlie. (98 pounds of mellow) He was also adopted from Homeward Pet, in addition to our almost 1 year old cat, Simba. We have a very full home now with kids and pets. Everyone loves it.

Sincerely,

Heather

update on tinker

I adopted Tinker in October of Last year. She has quite the personality. She barks at anything and everyone. She loves to roll in the grass. We just got two lizards(bearded dragons) she has discovered them so now she constantly barks at them. She loves to play, she like to tease as well, wish i had the energy she has. I enjoy her and and she is alot of company. Here is what tinker looks like today.

Mac and Jack!

OK, so now it's been almost two months since I brought Mac and Jack home and renamed them Shade and Shadow, respectively.  They're doing GREAT!!  Neither one is real fond of my 3 year old though, and understandably.  I wouldn't like someone that's constantly sticking their hand in my face to sniff, or grabbing me awkwardly when I'm trying to sleep, or chasing me through the house to pet me when I want to be left alone.  They're incredibly tolerant though and have never "grabbed" at my kids to be left alone.

They have a new area to explore now too.  For the winter we had plastic up on the outside of the windows that we recently took off, so now the boys can look out the windows and see what's going on in the Wide World.  Which reminds me to get a latching screen door so that Shade's chances of escape are lessened.  He's tried a couple times to take off out our front door.

Shade is the more friendly of the two, still.  He'll lounge on his back in the middle of the floor while we have company.  He'll accept at least an ear scratch from anyone that comes in.  He's not much for laps, but will spend the day curled up against my leg.  He loves the mouse shape our laser pointer can create and we can get him to spin like a top chasing it.  He's not much for the catnip I've sprinkled on the floor, but he's still super sweet and loving; even at 2 am.  I don't know how many nights I've felt his wet nose crashed against my face because he wants to be pet and loved on.  He's still the bigger and silkier of the two and will sometimes enforce his dominance on Shadow, who then whines and cries until Shade gets off.

Shadow is still pretty stand-offish with everyone but me.  He's one of these cats that chooses one human to like and bond with and everyone else doesn't exist.  He LOVES the catnip I'll sprinkle on the floor.  He'll roll in it until he's covered, then jump in my lap and stare at me.
He's the one who usually starts the games of Kitty Tag and Kitty Racing (think NASCAR) through the house.  Every morning, when the kids aren't in my bed, he and I will have some bonding/petting time where I just pet him from ear to tail and he turns into a purr machine. He's MY kitty after all :)  He also doesn't mind being picked up and carried, for short amounts of time.

The longer I have these guys the happier we all are.  They're so FUN to have around, especially when they start tearing around the house and being goofy

Winkie!

I have to tell you that Winkie has been the biggest pleasure in my life, she has so much personality, is a total love and only needed time to warm up and become less scared. It is clear she had a bit of a tough time before she came to us, but she has brought more to our lives that we have to hers. I feel very lucky to have found her.

She also loves to fetch. It is the strangest thing, she’ll fetch for hours, and if you stop throwing the ball, she’ll bring it up and drop it on you. It is so funny. Thanks for saving her.

Pearl!

Kitty is sitting and purring in my lap as we speak. She has gotten used to her new surroundings SO much faster than I imagined possible. I thought for sure she would still be hiding from my kids. Instead she spent the morning chasing Kix cereal down the hallway, skidding and flipping as the kids laughed hysterically.

They all pitched in on the name and she is now Purple Police Princess Rosemary Pearl - but we still call her Pearl for short. I'll send some pictures soon. Just wanted to drop a quick note to tell you that she is fitting into our family beautifully and I have never met a nicer sweeter cat.

Lucy

Lucy was one of 9 puppies and when we went to look at them there were three girls left. We picked her based on how laid back she seemed to be but I guess the reason for that was because she was running all over the place earlier. :) She is a very high spirited and a very happy girl. She is super sweet and we love her soo much. My son (age 7)loves to lay with her on the dog bed and they watch movies together. They have really bonded, he got the flu a few weeks ago and she stayed by his side. She also loves to be covered in blankets which always gives us a good laugh when we walk in and see her snoozing with some ones coat or blanket partly pulled over her. She is attending puppy classes and her two brothers which makes it lots of fun for everyone. She has made our lifes a lot more interesting and whole lot more fun. Thank you for all you guys do and Lucy thanks you too.

Gizmo update (formerly Sprite)

Just had to tell you how much we are enjoying Gizmo (formerly Sprite). We adopted him at the end of July and he was truly a gift from the Universe. We knew he was "coming", and it was love at first meeting.

Gizmo is doing great - gets along well with two cats in the household and enjoys having his friend "Puggy" come to visit when Puggy's mom and dad are out of town.

******Gizmo says, "I love Kenmore. I have a gynormous fenced yard on a corner lot so I have plenty of room to romp and play, and even have a deck so I can see even more neighborhood action! Crows! Cars! Dogs! Cats! People! And four humans to pet me and tell me how wonderful I am.
Life is good.

Good luck to my "brothers and sisters" who are lucky enough to have found their way to Homeward Pets.

Thanks to all,
Gizmo and family

Holly Cat

Dear Homeward Pet,

We adopted Holly on March 3rd 2010. Since it's been a month now, I thought I'd give you an update on our wonderful kitty! I have also attached three pictures of her. Holly is real character! She is sweet and funny. The first week she wasn't sure what to make of us or her new home and many noises made her run under the bed. Now however, she is very comfortable with us now and is so loving! She likes to roam all over the house and has found a few favorite spots to either look out the windows or nap. There is one end of the couch that she has declared 'her side.'

We have a new morning routine. When we get up and head out to the kitchen, she'll follow us and watch while we get coffee. When we walk back towards the living room, she'll flop (yes, flop) on her side which is her way of letting it's know it's time pet her and play. She is her feistiest in the early morning, preferring to nap during the day. She loves all her toys and even added one on her own. She spied a tassel that was on a bookmark in the bookshelf. She pulled the book down and took the bookmark! And yes, it's now her toy. Although she not a lap cat (nor likes to be picked up) in any way, she does like to cuddle next to us. Most nights she sleeps with us and as soon one of us is on our side with bent knees, she gets in the crook of the knee and purrs away. She also likes to lie next to me when I sit on the couch and while I'm petting her, she'll grab two or three fingers and hold them on her paws then puts her head on top of my hand. That is the sweetest thing ever! It tells me she now feels secure.

I want to thank Homeward Pet for all you do for dogs and cats and I tell everyone I talk to about all the great work you do.

Sincerely, Jim & Beth

Savannah

Yes, Savannah has been a member of our family for about a month now although it seems like I've loved her forever. She is an amazing dog! She adapted to our house and routine very quickly. She's smart, sweet, affectionate, well behaved and so appreciate of her new life! She's always giving me kisses. Savannah also gets along great with my 15 you Jack Russell, Zander. It's been great for him to have Savannah around while I'm away at work and to have a best buddy when we go for our daily walks.

I appreciate her for taking her in, nursing her back to health and making the adoption process so easy. They can all rest assured Savannah is loved very much and living the good life!
Best regards,
Susan

Dakoda!

I just wanted to give you an update on Dakoda, the Husky mix we adopted about 3 weeks ago.  Dakoda is such a sweet dog and has adjusted well.  He now goes by Koda, as my oldest son is also Dakota, and 2 Dakota’s in the house wasn’t going to work.  He is/was quite overweight, but with lots of playing in the yard and long walks has already lost over 8 pounds.  He is a smart boy and came to us well trained.  He has learned the “rules” of his new house and is very gentle with the kids in the house.  We couldn’t be happier with our new pet!

Thanks,
Monte, Kathie, Dakota, Hunter, and Ryder

Georgia !

Just wanted to let you know we renamed Georgia to Gypsy and she’s doing really well.

She’s made the transition easy for us by automatically sitting at the door when needing to go out,

sitting for her food and just being an all around well tempered puppy. She’s already been to the Vet

for her first check up and is scheduled start training in May. Thanks for our great experience

adopting Gypsy (Georgia) from your rescue/adoption center.

Thanks,

Jose

Kinzie!

Thank you Homeward Pet.  Our new dog is fitting in just great.  She has adapted well and has learned all the hand signals that my other herding dog knows.  The pecking order between our dogs has been established with very little trouble so that is a good thing.  Our 15 year old son and our new dog have bonded so very well and they spend many hours running down on the state land and the "overweight" dog has dropped some pounds :)  This being our third rescue dog, we are very pleased to see how well our Kinzie has adapted and has now learned our routines.  She anxiously awaits for our son to get home from school and drops at night fast to sleep a happy dog.:)  Thank you so much for the care you give to those dogs who I hope and pray get a forever home.

Sincerely

Kinzie’s Family

PS:  Oh our Kinzie has the invisible fence figured out and it is working well for her as it does with the other dog.

Kinzie now has her "own box with her name on it with all her toys and leashes.  So much fun to have your very own. :)  I have attached some pictures of Kinzie and our son for your enjoyment.  We are all one big happy family.  Thank you Amy for all your help in the adoption and meeting the family and our dogs.
