Barry and Obie
We wanted to let you know how our kitties are doing and also wanted to send you a couple pictures to share!
We adopted Barry (black male, formerly known as “Ichiro”) and Obie (lynx point male, formerly known as “Bolt”) toward the end of May 2009. They are the sweetest little guys anyone could ever want. They aren’t brothers but they were fostered together ― we didn’t know that when we chose them but were happy to find out during the adoption process since it meant they didn’t have to be separated.
They couldn’t be more loving ― to us and to each other. We love how they groom each other and we find them sleeping with their arms and legs intertwined all the time. We have an older cat (8 years old) who is still getting used to them ― they know to show the proper “respect” to the old girl and she (mostly) tolerates them when they approach to try and get her to play ― they’ve even touched noses a couple times ― but she mainly watches from her perch on the back of the couch as they run and tumble and jump and wrestle ― she will look at us periodically as if to say, “Why did you do this to me?”
They both like to be petted and like a lot of attention ― we describe their different personalities by saying when Obie wants attention/affection he is a little on the “needy” side – but Barry is a lot on the “demanding” side! Obie is a lot bigger than Barry but Barry is definitely the one in charge. Barry has the cutest habit of laying flat out on his back with his legs stretched out ― it’s so funny since we don’t usually see a cat sleeping like this (pictures attached). Barry often has his little tongue hanging out, too, when he’s really contented but we haven’t gotten to the camera in time to get a picture ― although we’re still trying! A lot of the time Obie seems to be keeping guard when Barry is this sacked out!
The kitties are healthy and happy ― we had them both checked out at an initial appointment with our vet who pronounced them in superb shape. They are active and burn off food as soon as they take it in. Their coats are glossy, their eyes are bright. (I’d like to give a “plug” to the Pet Pros on
We couldn’t be happier with our little babies (although they aren’t that little anymore and getting bigger every day). We can tell they had top of the line nurturing and care ― you can tell from their trusting spirits, energetic playing, and their openness to being loved and petted.
Thank you for everything you are doing to make sure little buddies like Obie and Barry are finding good homes. If we had the room, we’d come back and get two or three more! J

Finnegan
Hi there! You guys recently called to check on how Finnegan is doing (short answer: Very well, thank you!), and I'd been meaning to send you some pictures, so here they are. He's put on half-a-pound, and his coat is very soft now. He's getting along great with the nieces, too! Thanks for sheltering the little guy--he really is a great pet, and I'm glad you were there to take care of him! --Mary |

Handsome
Attached is a picture of Handsome (who we have renamed Tobey). My husband had just finished brushing him out on the deck – a real treat for him. I’m sure you know he loves to be groomed. He had lost 2 pounds the last time I weighed him. He gets a lot of exercise just running through the house. We have hardwood floors and he loves to run as fast as he can and then slide. We are really enjoying him and I’m pretty sure that he enjoys being with us.
He has a large climbing cat tree that we have in a window that looks out on a bird feeder. He really enjoys watching all the birds. He also can look out on the back deck and watch the squirrels and more birds. The first couple of months we had him he just wanted to curl up on our laps. Now he is very playful. He has lots of toys which he enjoys – especially the stuffed mouse.
We had his teeth cleaned a couple of months ago. He had to have a couple of teeth pulled. Other than that, he has had no health issues.
Thank you for taking good care of him while you had him

Buddy and Lucky are happy at home
Hello Homeward Staff,.
In May of this year we came to Homeward in search of a new family member, and fell in love with Buddy. He is a black lab mix who was surrendered after his owner passed away. The instant we came home with him, he blended right in. He just followed myself and family around and loved going in the car to go bye-bye. Because we loved Buddy -bear so much we thought it would be a great idea to get a brother for him. He already has a pesty little sister cat, Raynee, :). So we checked out Homewards site and saw Lucky, a lab mix from the Yakima area. We came to meet him, and fell in love with his personality. So Buddy got to meet him, and they hit it off. They are now peas in a pod. They play together, sleep together, eat together. They are like two brothers that have always been together. We could not be happier with our two four legged boys. Our two human boys adore them as well. We took the dogs on their first hike with us and they LOVED it. They also enjoyed the river. We are so happy and so thankful for the staff at Homeward Pets. This experiance has been perfect from the very start.
-Thank you again-

FW: Lexi - Update
Dear Homeward, We recently adopted Lexi and wanted to tell you how she's doing. Lexi is an energetic, lively and happy pup! She's a great puppy for our family and we all adore her. Lexi loves to play fetch and tug-a-war. She is very inteligent and knows how to sit, shake, lie down and stay without any obedience classes. She loves carrots and icecubes. She doesn't like to go on walks yet, but gets her exersize by running in the back yard, hiking and swimming in the lake (which she loves to do). She likes car rides and we've already taken her to Guemes island with us! Lexi is almost almost housebroken and doesn't chew on furniture. She's been to the vet a couple times to get her shots and examinations. Overall Lexi is a wonderful puppy and we love and enjoy her everyday! Thank you, Tatiana, Anastasia and Vlad. |

Chandler Update!
I just wanted to let you know that Chandler is one happy puppy and a great fit for our family.
He loves obedience classes (and the associated treats) and already knows sit, stay, leave it,shake, down, and how to balance a bone on his nose. He gets walks every day while we are at work from some older neighborhood kids and we spend lots of time together mornings, evenings and weekends! He is housebroken and almost done teething and has outgrown that nipping phase. He goes on lots of car rides, short hikes, and trips to the beach!
Thanks for adopting him to us, we love him and think he's wonderful (even when he helps us garden)!

Raquel and Sebastian - Update
Matt and I adopted Raquel and Sebastian May 14th. We recently received
a phone call inquiring about them, so I am sending you and update with
photos.
They are absolutley wonderful, and we are sooo happy we adopted them!
We have always had cats, but sadly our last cat died from kidney failure
in February.
We were lucky enough to find a great vet (At Home Vet) who came out to
our home so that our cat could be with us and at peace for her last
moments. Although we were still sad, we knew we wanted cats in our home
again. We were looking to adopt two kitties together so they could keep
each other company. Matt saw the ad for two kittens at Homeward Pets
and we went down after work. Although you never quite know what you are
getting when they are still so small, we got lucky. They are very smart
and have great personalities. I think the clincher was when one of the
staff mentioned that a gaggle of Girl Scouts had been playing with them
and Raquel reached up and ripped the lip of one of them. We knew right
then that she had spunk. And you could see the intelligence in
Sebastian's eyes when he would look directly in our eyes. He seemed to
have a lot going on in that little kitty brain.
Sebastian may have been picked on by his sisters (according to his
foster mom), but he gives as good as he gets with Raquel. He plays hard,
but enjoys his lap time too. He is very sweet and affectionate. He is
very curious and very smart. If we try to hide something from him, he
watches where we put it and figures out a way to get it. You can tell he
is puzzling it over until he figures it out. Very smart kitty.
Raquel is actually a little more reserved and likes her alone time
sometimes.
(Probably because her brother is always all over her!) She does lap with
us or is always close by. She is an early morning kitty, and likes to
wake us up at 5:00 in the morning (a little early for us) by placing her
mouth in our ears and purring really loudly and nibbling on our ears.
And she has the loudest purr I have ever heard; we can hear her across
the room. She is very observant and misses nothing that goes on. We
think she is going to be big (maybe 15
pounds?) - she is already bigger than Sebastian. Which is probably a
good thing, as Sebastian is likely to be a handful when he get older and
his "Siamese-ness" comes out.
They love each other very much, and play and sleep together all the
time. It is great fun to watch the crazy acrobatics as they play with
each other. They sleep with us every night on the bed, curled up with
each other. They have the run of our home (except kitchen counters!) and
have adjusted well to their new home. They will be indoor kitties, but
they have lots of toys (and us) to play with, as well as each other.
They will be with us forever. They are very much a part of our family
now, and we would never give them up.
We have kept in touch with Tami, their foster mom, and sent her updates
and photos. She is such a wonderful person for providing such a
selfless and much needed and appreciated service of being a foster mom.
And we want to thank Homeward Pets for being a no-kill facility and
allowing for so many animals to have a chance of finding a loving home.
We had a very nice adoption experience. Despite coming in late after
work and getting ready to close, the staff took the time to tell us a
bit about the kitties and let us get to know them.
p.s. They love playing with ice cubes, and they've just discovered
catnip.
Happy kitties!
Diane and Matt
Sarafina and Bobbin now Heidi and Layla
Hello! I adopted two kittens, Sarafina and Bobbin (now named Heidi and Layla) 06/21/2009. Just wanted to write and say that we have enjoyed every minute that they have been with us. They bring a lot of life and joy to our home. They now have gotten all shots and will be going in for their rabies shots within a couple of weeks.
Layla (Bobbin) was the outgoing one when we came to the shelter and Heidi (Sarafina) was the shy and timid one. Well after bringing them home and getting them used to their surroundings Heidi is now the outgoing trouble maker, and Layla is just sweet and mellow. We were so shocked to see how their personalities turned out to be opposite of what we expected.
I have attached some pictures of them for you to enjoy
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to adopt these sweet two :)

Smokey & Junior
Good Morning,
My family came in yesterday and adopted Smokey & Junior. Sherry, our adoption counselor, told us you like to get news, so we wanted to send a couple pictures and let you know that they are doing wonderfully and getting well acquainted with their new home and family. We set them up in a nursery in our spare bedroom with all their toys and essentials. They came right out of their carrier as soon as we opened the door (Junior first with Smokey on his heels). There was about a minute of creeping around on their bellies, but they very quickly started running around and wrestling with each other. They are so playful! They ran around for literally five or six hours non-stop until they finally tired out and curled up at the top of their cat tree to nap. Junior is a great snuggle-bug and likes to be held once he's run himself out. This morning when I came to check on them, he marched right up to me and demanded to be picked up. Smokey's not ready for any big cuddles yet, but he loves to be pet and already has the purr of a 50lb cat!
They both have excellent litter manners and healthy appetites. They have their first vet visit next week at

Riley (Oscar) update
Hello,
I just wanted to write and let you know how lucky we are to have adopted Riley.
(You knew him as Oscar.)
Riley has been a great dog!! It took some time for him to relax into the routine of the house but he is doing great. We took him to basic training through AOCB. The class taught us more than it taught him!
Riley has been so much fun this summer. We have been out every weekend this summer camping, hiking, kayaking, and boating. We started the summer at Lake Chelan and it just might have been the first time he saw water. He was very unsure and unwilling to fetch in the water. Over the weeks he grew to enjoy the water and is now swimming. I have attached one of the kayaking pictures of a recent trip to Orcas Island.
Thank you very much for giving us the opportunity to adopt Riley. It has been an amazing adventure!!

Our happy kittens!
We adopted our precious 'kittens' a little over a year ago, so they're not quite so small anymore, but they continue to brighten our lives every day. Notice Peyton, the calico's, 'thumbs'. And Archie, the orange tabby, is a real love!
Dodger the Cat!
Here are pixs of our boy for the wall of fame. He was “T.C” with you, but has been re-named Dodger. He had a rocky start health-wise, but is now vibrant and well. He loves his forever-home!
