Cisco's found a home!

Hi, Everybody at Homeward Pets!

Here is a picture of Cisco, who came home to live with us a week ago.  He immediately fit into our family, and our older cat Cinnamon is really fond of him.

We love Cisco (we have renamed him Enkedo (pronounced ‘Inkeedoo’) who is a character in Gilgamesh, an ancient poem.  He is very happy here and his coat is getting shinier every day.

Good luck with adopting all the wonderful animals at Homeward Pets, and thanks for all you do for our community’s strays.

Wylie Pictures

Wylie came from a badly overcrowded shelter in eastern WA. He slowly started to shine once coming to Homeward. Volunteer Heidi was smitten by him and we feel this lucky guy hit the jackpot when she adopted him!  Laurel

Here are some pictures of Wylie.  The last one is a bit blurry but Wylie looks really cute.  He is doing very well and he and Merlin get along most of the time.  Thanks for allowing me to adopt them, I really love them.

Sincerely,

Heidi

Update on June (aka Daisy)

Hi Everyone at Homeward,

We adopted June (aka Daisy) on July 12, 2009.  She is doing just fine and adjusted very easily into our family.  We are all in love with her.  She has alot of personality and energy...I've never seen a dog run so fast when she's wound up (although you'd never know it from her pictures).  She has been on one camping trip already and will go to Ocean Shores with us in August.  I guess you could say she's my dog because she follows me from room to room in our house, but then I am around her the most too.  She's always excited to see my husband and sons when they come home.  We found the right dog for us.  Thanks so much!

Happy Tails - Sunny and Oscar - Now Twinkle and Spark

Dear Homeward Pet,

Thank you for allowing us to adopt two very special kitties. We adopted Sunny and Oscar (Now Twinkle and Spark -aka Sparkle) back in May/June. They adjusted well to our family which includes 3 dogs and a very cuddly 6 year old girl. They love the dogs and play with them often. The make us smile daily with their crazy play and cuddly purrs. They have been indoors only and have finally stopped trying to get outside. We love them very much and can't wait to see what memories we create with them over their lifetime.

Thank you again for adopting them to us...they are fabulous.

Positively,
Margaret and family

FW: pictures of Lola

Dear staff at Homeward pets,

Thank you so much for taking good care of Lola until she could come home with us.  We could not have asked for a better dog and just love her so very much!  She is such a good dog.  She is sleeping well in her own little bed next to us at night.  She is a great walker, always comes to her name, and is being gentle with our two cats, Gatsby and Wiccan.  I am so happy I went to Homeward Pets and saw her. Lola was meant for us and we just love her!

Thank you for all you do to help animals find a good home.  You have touched our lives greatly by brining Lola to us and for that we are forever grateful!

Sincerely, Julia Simon and Joe Cancino

Roxy..adopted after a short stay @ Homeward Pet

Hello!

Some of you had a chance to spend time with Roxy before her short stay at Homeward Pet. She was there for about 8 days. We adopted her on July 1st.  Although her stay was short she managed to catch a bad case of kennel cough, which we promptly took her to our vet and they took wonderful care of her. She is getting very cozy at the Hopkins house. Her favorite place to be is on a recliner with her new owners. Roxy enjoys tearing up her squeaky lamb (loving made, which we found amusing, by the company that creates “Barbie”), sniffing her new surroundings and taking an occasional snooze. She is a great watch dog, no bird, dog or person gets past her! Roxy is an amazing dog!  We have attached a few pictures to share.

Thanks so much for all that you do to help keep dogs and cats safe and ready for their potential new owners.

Stanley update!

Hi Homeward!

We wanted to give you an update on Saber, who's new name is Stanley.
He's been such a joy to bring into our family!! He's such a loving dog
-- he definitely has a mind of his own, but all he wants is love :)

We talked with our vet who recommended waiting on any potential
hydro-therapy until we knew each other a little better, so we're just
going with the tried-and-true approach of portion control and walking!
It's working as he's already down to 110.4 lbs and he's lost over 5
inches in his waist in 4 short weeks - we couldn't be happier with his
progress and he gets friskier every week!

I've attached some photos for your blog, but wanted to let you know that
Stanley has a blog of his own to document his progress. Everyone can
keep up with him at http://chubbystanley.blogspot.com

Thank you so much for taking him in at Homeward - I can't imagine a more
perfect dog for our family, and we will definitely keep you updated on
his progress!

Happy Tails - Scooby

Sending you some pictures of Shaggy (we renamed him Scooby).  Scooby is 6 1/2 months old, very happy, healthy and playful.  He loves playing tug, ball, his daly walks and playing in the sprinkler.  As you can see he is a handsome fellow and he has 3 "sisters" to play with.  Despite a few chewing instances, he is very obedient and well-behaved.  He is doing great.

Salty

Hi Folks,
Thanks again for the great job that you do! Here is an update on Salty who we adopted on April 11th of this year. She was full of mange and weighed 17 pounds(?). She is now very healthy and has lots of hair. She now weighs 50 pounds! The vet says she is perfectly healthy.
Here is a picture from the day we adopted her and what she looks like now. THANKS AGAIN!

Leo (Mickey) Update

I am growing into a big boy...50 lbs just a couple of weeks ago. I am almost as big as my older sister Cian but not quite yet. My family thinks that I am just the cutest little man and my mom calls me her little monkey man as I am pretty silly. Mom signed me up for classes with Amanda Brothers at Doggy Haven Resort. We are so lucky to have class just 5 minutes from home. I have new friends to play with and I am learning so many things. Mom is really happy because she has learned a ton of things too. I love to play with everyone and love to give kisses to the kids everywhere I go. We are working on our meet and greet manners since I really get excited and want to play with every dog I see. It is hard but I am getting better. I am very excited to meet see my brothers and sisters again next month. It will be so much fun!

Lola (aka:Missy)

Homeward Pet Staff:

We adopted Lola "Twinkle Toes" two weeks ago and there isnt anything I can say that sums up how truly special she is to us! As you can see in the pictures she loves her tennis balls and being outside, but during the evening she is the best cuddlebug :) She and our 3 year old chihuahua, Champ, have been completely inseperable and are the dynamic duo when it comes to begging for food!

When Lola's not destroying her bones and tug-a-war ropes she loves walks and playing fetch with the "chuck-it"... you would never know she's missing two toes!! (She sure doesnt!!) She is such a happy girl with an amazing personality that fits in perfectly with us and Champ :) She goes potty outside (she has had NO accidents) and hasnt chewed on anything but her toys and bones! We are very lucky to have such a special girl!

We will keep you updated every few weeks or so with new and funny pictures of her!

Thank you again for our little princess :)

Joey finds happiness

Hello all,
Thank you for all your help in uniting Joey to our family. He is doing well and is enjoying himself.

When I took him home on Saturday night, I put him in a second bedroom and let him hang out and relax after his stressfull journey home.

I spent some time in there with him, and after a while he came out from under the bed and looked out the window.

I had to go to a friend's dinner, and when I got back at 10, he was ready to go explore around the house, knowing that my dog, Woody, was out there. Woody behaved himself and held back and let Joey wander.

Joey slept with me that night, taking all the snuggles and rubs he could get. When we all woke in the morning, I was petting Woody and giving him loves, then Joey decided to join in and gave Woody full face to face rubs! Then Woody managed to get a good snif and was satisfied with this cat in his home.

Joey has found his litterbox and used it last night some time. He has eaten his food and even taken a liking to Woody's food (we will be consulting the Vet about that tomorrow...). He keeps talking to me, whenever I am active around the house. I think he wants to go outside, but I am not willing to go there yet. He has multiple windows around the house that he can get a good look outside.

Anytime I sit down, Joey is there and happy to get more loves. He seems to be fitting in well, and only hid when I got out the vaccuum (he was fine until I got a little too close).

He doesn't seem to be interested in any of the scratching things I bought for him and has no interest in cat nip. He would rather be pet and rubbed.

If you have any suggestions why he might be talking to me, please let me know. He has food, water, toys (we REALLY like the feather wand), litterbox and naps. I can't imagine what else he wants, besides outside.

Thank you so much!
Jamie

Shyla

Dear Homeward Pet,

It's been a year since our beautiful Shyla (you named her and we kept it) became part of our family.  We could not have asked for a better dog.  First of all, she is absolutely beautiful, as you can see in the attached pictures.  Secondly, she has the sweetest personality.  She is so loving and friendly, we think that she doesn't know that she's a Chow Chow.  Lastly, she came and lived with us 2 months before we had to put our 14 ½ year old dog to sleep.  She was such a good companion to him and stayed really close to him during his bad days.  Thank you for taking care of her and making her available for our adoption.  We promise to take good care of her for the rest of her days.

Shyla attended a sculpture exhibit at Carkeek Park and enjoyed the art immensely.  Here are some photos of her at the park.

An update on Turk (formerly called Yogi)

We've had Turk (formerly called Yogi) for almost 3 months now and I have to say that adopting him was one of the best decisions we ever made!  He has fit into our family beautifully.  Initially my husband and sons were not enthusiastic about getting a small dog, but they all adore Turk now.  It’s hard not to when he adores them and is always happy to see them.

Turk won my husband over by doing many of the things Picard, our previous dog who passed away last year, used to do. When Turk leaves the crate each morning, he runs to Dennis' side of the bed to say good morning and get petted before he goes outside to "get er done".  He loves to “get the paper” in the morning and “get the mail” in the afternoon literally leaping off my lap when Dennis says either of these phrases.  Although he can’t play as rough with Turk as he did with Picard, he still has lots of fun throwing the ball for him to chase and playing a gentler version of tug-o-war.

Our son, Greg,  likes to take him on car rides and walks.  He has also taken him to drama rehearsal at school where everyone loved him.  The first week we had him Greg picked him up constantly and said over and over “he’s just so cute!”   Our other son, Steven, calls Turk “the pest”, yet he is always picking him up and petting him.  He likes to play with him too and is very good about teaching him that biting hands is never allowed even when playing.

Turk is definitely a mama’s boy.  He loves to be with me and to do what I’m doing whether it’s sitting on the couch, going for a walk or working in the yard.  He doesn't mind me going to work each day, but he didn't like it when I took an overnight trip.  When I got home he was ecstatic with joy and couldn't stop giving me "kisses."

I’ve included some pictures of Turk, but they don't capture just what a great dog he is.  I’ve also included a picture of one of our cats, Lexus, because we got her from Homeward Pets (then called Hooterville Pets) too, almost 14 years ago!  She doesn’t like Turk much (he wants to play, she wants to be left alone) but she is learning to tolerate him and he is learning to back off when she tells him to, because her claws are sharp!

Thank you again for the wonderful new addition to our family!

Kathleen, Dennis, Steven and Greg

Jack Update!

Jack (now Jax J ) is doing excellent! We just love him to death.  He turned into the favorite neighborhood dog very fast.  He is certainly one of the family now, and it such a good and VERY SMART boy!  He was a bit of a nipper at first, but learned very quickly that hands are for petting not playing, and it’s no longer an issue.

He loves to play thinking games, and learn new tricks (which takes about 3 tries and he has it down, sometimes he will learn a trick just by watching Remi!).   You can see his brain turn as he thinks and observes, and his eyes are so expressive.  His favorite activities are hiking, running (he runs with me for 2-3 miles a day), playing with other dogs, ANY human, weekend trips, car rides, baths, mental puzzles, and playing tug.  Last week we taught him how to swim, and he was so proud of himself.  He is so curious and eager to please.  We couldn’t be happier with how great of a fit he is for our family.  Remi and Jax are becoming best friends; every time they separate for a bit and then see each other again they go happy crazy.

He is no longer litter trained and goes potty outside like a good dog.  J

Jax is now a very healthy happy and socialized puppy.  I attached a few picture of Jax.

Thanks for yet another great dog and great fit!
