One-eyed jack/Chester update!

Hi Homeward Pet:

We thought we'd send you a little update about how Chester (formerly One-Eyed Jack) is doing!  In the six months since we've adopted him his personality has grown so much.  He loves to explore off-leash dog parks (as long as there aren't too many other dogs there!) and loves to talk back to us when we ask him questions!  We are so happy to have him as a part of our family.  I've attached a few recent pictures :)

Leah and Samson

Update on Leah and Samson

Hello All,
We are happy to report that Leah and Samson have adjusted to their new
home and are delighting their new parents. We brought them home
prepared to carefully introduce them to one room at a time but within
five minutes they were both happily exploring the entire house. They
have established a kitty play run, circling through three rooms,
jumping on a chair, and sliding on the wood floor.

They have been rechristened "Puff" as she looks like a puff of smoke,
and "Pepe" as he is such a loverboy. They went to the Bothell Pet
Hospital for their checkup on Wednesday and were pronounced in
excellent health. Both kittens had another set of shots and their
little nails clipped. The staff at the pet hospital had lots of
compliments for Homeward so be proud of your reputation!

They are sweet, playful and affectionate kittens and we adore them.
Thank you to all who were involved in raising them. We've attached a
couple of pics for you.

Thanks Again,
Shelly and Larry

Lucky

Hello there, Lucky here, I am having a wonderful time with my family. I am doing great and loving my new home. My family has attached some photo’s of me enjoying my dog time. I am all puppy and love to run and play all day. I am glad summer is here and the kids are out of school for me to play with.

Bijou - our jewel

When we had to put down our belowed 13 years old tabby our whole family heartbroken. But especially me (mom) and our 18 years old son who was both the chosen and official owner. About a year ago I did not feel quite ready to adopt, but Robbie was set on raising a new kitten during the summer vacation. We went around countless shelters and saw many cute kittens, but we found the right one at Homeward Pet. The shelter was clean, the animals friendly and the service was very nice. We adopted Bijou last June and she has been a continuous joy and entertainement for us ever since. She imediately got along well with our existing pets and is always adorable to us, charmingly blinking with her big blue eyes. She figures even on our son’s  graduation portrait. Thank you, thank you Homeward Pet!

Happy Tails Red

Red here... I love my new home. I get to sleep on the bed and go to the dog park at least once, sometimes twice a day. I have two new friends Ann and Sasha. Ann is a human and goes to work most days, so I get to stay home and play with Sasha.

Ann and Sasha can't believe how well trained and sweet I am. Other than walking on a leash, I am a pro at nearly everything. Ann gets a big kick out of my antics and has been showing me off to her friends.

Thanks for finding my new friends!

Happy Tails- Boogie (aka Carl)

Why hello, folks of my kithood home!

This is Boogie speaking, the dashingly handsome black-and-white kitten you knew as Carl. Since you last saw me, I've grown from an adorably tiny kitten to a rather huge (but NOT overweight, mind you!), fierce, and powerful cat. My house is my kingdom, and I am the King.

Oh, and I have a few humans to deal with too. I've trained them well, though, so they don't give me much trouble. Except they just won't leave me alone! They repeatedly pick me up and cuddle me, leaving me no choice but to whine at them. They seem to think I'm a "spunky bunky boy" or some other such nonsense. Pfft. You humans.

There's also a rather fascinating bird (I've heard it called a "cockatiel") that lives in my kingdom too. But the humans either keep it locked up or keep me locked up (the nerve!) so that I don't snack on it. Pity. It really does look tasty...

And I'm also famous! The youngest human girl has written stories about me and designed covers for them on the computer. She handed one in for an English story assignment- and got 100%, too. I mean, it had me on the cover- of course it got high marks!

Well, my humans asked me to say hello to all of you, and to let you know that they'll be going to the d-o-g adoption event this month. I'm not really that great at spelling, so I don't know what d-o-g means; the humans always spell it out when I'm around. They're all very excited about it, though. I wonder what d-o-g is?

Below are some pictures of fabulous me- enjoy them!

Meows and best wishes,

King Boogie (and his humans)

Happy Tails - Talley Rose

She’s doing very well—she’s a Beagle nose with a German Shepherd body, so exploring our 20 acres is just the best! We go on 2-3 walks a day on the property, and she can’t get enough of the smells. And she’s a great Frisbee dog! So a few minutes of Frisbee keeps her quiet for the rest of the day. She keeps me company while I work. She loves her toys and her bed, and sleeps quietly in the crate at night.

I don’t think she was as accustomed to cats as we all thought, but she’s very obedient about leaving them alone when we call her off, but a puffed up, growling kitty is still an invitation to the chase. We haven’t started obedience yet, but I think that will help as well.

Thanks for everything! She’s fit right into the household and is really a joy.

Adoption story for the blog

Foggy (full name: Foghorn Leghorn) started as a foster puppy at the age of 7 weeks. Needless to say, he never left! He is a Catahoula Leopard Dog mix and will be three years old in October.
Recently we started competing in agility and he is doing so well - he absolutely loves it and already has several titles under his belt.

Cap't Marshmellow and Co-Cap't

Hello! This is Co-captain writing! Do you remember me??

My brother and I were adopted last week! We have adjusted well into our
new home. We spend many hours running from one end of the house to the
other. We wrestle and play for hours. And of course, sleep too!!

My brother and I are joined at the hip. We go everything together and
are so happy we were adopted together :) And you know what? There is
this pretty 9 year old cat here. She likes us and is getting used to us.
We can touch noses, but occasionally still get growled at. But we mind
our manners and we think we will all be fast friends very soon

Outside of that, we are hoping to entertain soon. Many people want to
come and visit. You would think we are celebrities or something. Must be
because we like people and can purr up a storm!!

That is all for now. I hope you enjoy the picture of us. It was hard to
get a picture, as we can be very squirmy and don't sit still for long!

Signed, Co-Captain!

A MESSAGE of THANKS from HARLEY Coats

Hi again, everyone.

You probably remember me. My name is Harley “David’s Son” Coats.

Here I am again (the smallest dog with the biggest tongue) along with my friends Norman (middle) and Lexi (far right).

You probably also recall that Norman and Lexi’s owner, a wonderful gentleman by the name of Will Simpson, just recently passed away, leaving Norman and Lexi in need of new homes.

GOOD NEWS! Both Norman (age 5) and Lexi (age 14) have found wonderful new owners. Lexi has been adopted by an elderly couple who fell in love with her at first sight. They will provide her a quiet home where she can rest. (It seems Norman had been really wearing her out lately.) Norman has found loving owners who lost their Airedale terrier a month ago. Again, the bonding process began immediately upon meeting. Norman wasted no time hopping into the new owners’ car, signaling he was up for new adventures!

MANY LICKS and THANKS for all you did to help these adoptions happen for my friends!

Harley

Hello,
We brought Billy home about a week and a half ago and he has already comfortably fit into our family! We are calling him Charlie, or sometimes Chuck, or sometimes Sir Charles. He is a very good boy and is getting along well with our other dog Cinder. He enjoys our evening walks and surveying the surrounding yards from our deck.
Thanks again for all your work sheltering such great pets!

Follow up on David

Hello - I am writing to follow up on your call about how David (now called Ferdie!) is doing. He has adjusted very well and has the happiest disposition. Ferdie's favorite toy is his Kong and he loves chasing it at the Marymoor dog park. He is exceptionally well-behaved around other dogs and people, and is the best companion anyone could ask for!
A few pictures are attached.
thanks!
Kristen

Sir Otis and his kingdom:)

Sir Otis

Otis and I found each other at Homeward Pets in April of 2006. He is a high energy guy who enjoys brisk walks as we are forever in search of squirrels and bunnies to admire. He is truly a gift and is constantly bringing joy and laughter to each day. I thank Homeward Pets for their wonderful work and bringing Otis and I together.

We Love Our New Dog!

Thank you so much for uniting us with with our new best friend.  We adopted Jett 6 weeks ago and can't believe what a perfect dog he is for our family.  He has learned to sit and roll over and will flop down for a belly rub at the drop of a hat.  Everyone who meets Jett immediately loves him and wants to know where we got him.  I think he's giving a lot of positive publicity to Homeward Pet.  Before we had Jett, my husband always said 'No dogs on the bed." ...Now He wakes up to find Jett curled up on the foot end of the bed and all he can do is smile.  Thanks so much for the perfect addition to our family.  He goes everywhere with us and loves it!

The Hunters

PS.  We adopted Jett as "Doogle" and re-named him.  It didn't appear he was attached to his previous name and Jett seemed to fit since he's solid black...and loves to chase the cats around the yard.
