Hi Cindy and to all at Homeward Pets

 

We adopted Maisie (formally ‘Maui’) when she was only 8 weeks old in January this year.  She was one of Molly’s pups and from the minute she came home, she was part of the family.

She loves playing with her toys and is mastering the art of ‘fetch’, although she still needs a little encouragement to drop the ball once she brings it back! She is getting bigger every day (nearly 60 pounds now) but she’ll always be our little puppy.

Spike's adoption is official!

After spending two months with us, Spike has found his forever home.  After recently losing one of her canine companions, Roxane saw Spike on our web site and came in to meet him.  We weren’t sure if he would be able to live peacefully with other pets, but with the help of his new guardian, Spike learned to get along with the other dogs in the home and even the cat!  He is also having lots of fun participating in herding trials and learning new skills.  Thank you Roxane for giving Spike a wonderful new home!

 

Puff finally has a life that she always wanted!

Here are a few pics of Puff who has been renamed Winnie.  I know you probably can't tell from the pics, but she has lost a few pounds.  She usually sleeps until 4:00 pm and then gets up and does her thing.  She is a great mouser and seems to love her job.  Shawnee is so thankful that Winnie has come into her life.  She is an absolutely wonderful cat.

We love our Squiggy.  After many hours of dog training she can still 
be a pill, but we love her.  I thought we would send you a picture of

Dog adoption March/April

Cindy . . . My name is Tracie Bennett, and me, my daughter and my
boyfriend Fred Hawkins (registered owner) came in and adopted "Max" an
eight week old shepard/rotti mix. (He was one of eight puppies.)
I just wanted to share a couple pictures of him now. He is very happy
and healthy . . . and turning into a VERY Big puppy! We have been
camping a couple of times and he really does well and very much enjoys
it. At home he is still very 'puppy like', still trying to get the 'old
dog' to play, and sometimes he does.

Bosco!!

Hi Brie and Homeward Family,

 

Kevin and I wanted to thank you again for taking the time to help us find the “perfect” new family member.  Bosco has adjusted to his new home and family quickly and according to his ears – happily J.   The shelter and his previous adoptive family and foster family have done a great job with training and socialization – he is smart and well-mannered and shows love easily.  We are all so happy – even his two new sister kitty’s, who have had the reign of the house for over 10 years are accepting him into the fold.  I’ve attached some pictures – so you can see for yourself.

Jiggy (now Bertha) is now a busy detective!

 

Dear Homeward Pets
We adopted Jiggy (now named Bertha) on May 11. We named her Berta Cool for a fictional female detective created by Erle Stanley Gardner, who wrote the Perry Mason books. Bertha was a very large woman who ran her own agency and was created back in the late 1930s. Since our Bertha the cat is also quite large we thought that was an appropriate name.

Here are some photos of her in her new home. She is a lovely, sweet, and much loved cat in her new home.  She has the run of the house, and settled in quite easily. She is wonderful. She follows me everywhere, purrs constantly, and really loves human companionship.
Anyway, I thought you would enjoy seeing her photos. She is beautiful.

Thank you to the girls at Dragon Star Campfire Group for their generous donation. They placed a donation box with flyers and posters for one week to help our homeless dogs and cats.

Scout - doing fine and remembering you

Hi Cindy,

We are so glad Scout became our family member. He got friendly with us and we are thoroughly enjoying his stay with us.

He is showing improvements with regard to Potty training. He is very happy to be with us and same with us having him join our family.

He visited his Vet who confirmed he is doing very fine. He is teething and likes to chew anything, including our hands (haha) and getting better now. He is responding well to our communication.

Basia and Peanut(Davey Jones)

Hi, I have attached a few pictures of our babies Basia and Peanut (formerly Davey Jones).

 

We adopted Basia about three years ago from homeward pet.  I had lost one of two cats the year before and the second had passed away just a couple of months ago.  I decided with my future wife that we were missing something in our life and we needed another kitty.  We had heard about homeward pets and they were so close to home we went to see their kitties.  We were looking for a young kitten but it seemed that none of them would work out for us.  But we looked and played with the older cats and we fell in love with Basia.  She was about 4years old at the time, very playful and smart.  She has become an integral part of our family especially comforting my wife as she went through brain surgery and getting her CNA license.  This last summer we saw another story about homeward pet and how they were overwhelmed with the number of stray kittens.  So we thought well maybe Basia would like a companion.  We went to the shelter and looked at all the kittens.  We really were trying to stay away from long haired cats but I was drawn to one little grey kitty named Davey Jones.  We looked at him and said well his hair isn’t that long and he is young enough for us to change his name.  We didn’t realize how much hair Peanut would eventually have.  We decided to take him home even after we were told he was shy and not very cuddly.  He turned out to be quite the opposite.  And he is almost all hair and often a racing ball of energy.  He is also very clumsy and comical and he loves to wait for Basia and pounce on her.  Basia takes good care of her little brother bathing him, playing with him, scolding him when he is bad (mostly when she doesn’t want to play.)  We hope you enjoy their pictures.  We are so happy to have them in our lives, thank you homeward pet.

Peppercorn and Judi find true love!

 

My name is Judi and I am writing to let you know that Peppercorn has finally found a home. I understand she was owner released to Ellensburg Animal shelter in December. She was received at Homeward Pets in Woodinville, Washington in February and has been there ever since.  As I had lost my last two cats ( both 18 years of age) from old age the end of last year I had quite a bit of leftover canned cat food and decided to donate it to Homeward Pets in  February or March. It was then I met Peppercorn for the first time, but it was too soon to consider getting another pet. As time went by and I started checking the website for Homeward Pets, poor Peppercorn was still there. I think it was a combination of finally wanting to bring a special kitty into my life again, plus feeling badly for Peppercorn not having a proper home that made me head out to Homeward Pets last Sunday and officially adopt my special new housemate. I understand that black female kitties are the hardest to adopt out, which is just fine with me as my last two kitties were both black and I am a bit partial to the color.

     After bringing Peppercorn  home, she adapted without any problems. You would have thought she had been here all along. After a couple of tours of the house, she settled right in. I am presently getting an assist from her highness in writing this e-mail as she is sitting here on my lap and lending her paws frequently to this note. She would like to thank you again for helping with her rescue as would I. I can assure you she will have a very loving and spoiled existence.

Happy Tails - Claire (now Pepper)

Hi, my name was Claire at Homeward Pet, now my name is Pepper…I am a dachshund/border collie mix, I started out as a foster kid a couple months ago because I was quite shy at 5 months but well, my foster Mom just couldn’t part with me. I love my new forever home and forever family members!

 

As you can see by the pictures, I sleep a lot and play a lot with my new family and friends. My friend Serena came over for a play date, she was also adopted the same weekend, by my human Mom and Dad’s friends Ron and Val…wow, what fun, she’s a beautiful Australian Cattle dog and a big girl compared to me! There is another picture of me in the late April snowfall, cool stuff to dive into and eat. Then there is my new older brother Sezar (small brown), he’s 13 years old, very wise guy and really seems to like my warm body during naps. I’m very gentle with him, cause he is so little. Maija (black/tan) is my surrogate Mom dog, makes sure my ears are clean and that I follow house protocol, she doesn’t play much just observes that all is going well. Then there is my favorite sister Penne (brown), she’s a hoot, we play all day long and take long walks together with our human Mom in the park trails near our house. I like to hide her toys and stuff, cause it riles her up! My shyness is really not so much a problem anymore, as I have met lots of people, kids and interesting things and I’ve learned to follow the other dogs clues on certain situations. I walk on a leash great now and love getting into a crate to go into the car to visit. My door threshold phobia has also disappeared with my Mom’s encouragement in showing me how OK it was to cross it when called. I got so good at running inside and out that we are now working on sitting before going out the door.

 

I do drive my Mom nuts with my slug collecting habit, I don’t eat them though, they kind of look like little black wax lips which makes her laugh and I’m good about dropping them on command. I’m going to school starting next week to meet more dogs and learn new tricks to be even a smarter girl. Mom and I have talked about agility training when I get older, since I really like to run fast, it’s that collie instinct I guess.

 

My Mom wants me to tell you all, what a great place Homeward Pet Adoption is…she still volunteers to walk the dogs and loves the time she spends there. I love the fact that caring people like you take the time to make a difference for dogs like me!

Everest

Everest, now Sammy, is doing great.

My older dog has accepted him. He is house broken, walks on a leash, comes when called and is attending his first puppy class next week. He is getting plenty of exercise and meeting many new dogs to play with.
