Bo (now Baloo)

Here is Baloo (aka Bo) at the creek today doing what he loves to do. He gives unconditional love everyday. I think it was his presence in my life for the past 2 1/2 years that got me through my depression. He brings me joy and love everyday.

Raisin

My husband and I adopted Raisin in November of 2012, right after Thanksgiving. Ryan found her by accident when looking through a link of adoptable dogs I sent him. What caught our eye was how similar she looked to our other adopted dog. Then when we found out she was at Homeward Pet, which is right near our house, we had to go meet her.

Honestly, at the shelter, she was a very sad little dog. She showed no personality and wouldn't let us touch her. Hearing that she had been a pregnant stray, adopted and then returned was too much to bear. Something about her just felt right, so after meeting our current dog, we took her home.

It has taken Raisin a little while to open open up, but she is flourishing. She loves her "brother" Torkie so much. They have the best time playing together. Her personality has totally blossomed, she is incredibly playful and loves toys and is a big talker. Sometimes we even think she speaks a little human.

We decided to keep the same name she came with because it was so silly and unique, just like her. We love her so much! (she is the black dog in the photos if there is any confusion)

Maya

It's hard to believe that Maya will be a year old next month. She is doing wonderful and has a great life.

She goes to doggie day care one day a week to play with all her pals, and she totally loves romping in her huge yard with her brother, Harley. Soon she will be starting nose-work classes. Every day she makes life interesting and fun. She is so loved and she has the BEST smile ever!

Thank so much for all you do, Homeward Pet!

Atlas and Levi (now Koda and Tucker)

"These are both former Homeward dogs. They got some great training along with their adoptions - adults and kids were trained too! Now they are both 4-H dogs and winning blue ribbons. Tucker became a Reserve Champion in both obedience and showmanship today at the Monroe fair. Just proving that a shelter dog can do anything!"

These two are at home with our Clinic Manager, Karin! Lucky dogs!

Baxter (now Dexter)

I first fell in love with my dog Dexter, formerly Baxter, when he was brought in to my ER clinic after a complication with his neuter.  It was discovered that he is a hemophiliac. I was not looking for a pet since I was still getting over the loss of my kitty, Julius, but there was something special about this little dog.

When the girl from the shelter came to pick him up in the morning I told her if they couldn't treat his condition I wanted to adopt him.  I got a call a few days later and went to pick him up.  He needed a plasma transfusion, which I was easily able to provide.  Since then he has had a few episodes of spontaneous bleeding, all of which I have been able to successfully treat.

He is my best friend and I'm so happy you all rescued him and brought him into my life.

Starr and Sly (now Lilly and Legolas)

Starr and Sly (aka Lilly and Legolas) with their new mamma. We love our new family members.

Willow (now Guinness)

Thank you again for our newest family member, Guinness! We adopted her on 8/10, and she's settling in wonderfully, especially with Bear (our older dog, also adopted from Homeward Pet) to show her the ropes.

Here's a photo of Guinness and Bear after a fun trip to the dog park.

Best!

Willa (now Kiera)

I just wanted to let you all know that Kiera (formerly Willa) loves her new home; she is such a social kitty, and she loves to be in the middle of the action. As she gets more settled in she has taken to helping me crochet, wrestling with her pet mouse, and chasing ghosts through the house.

She's already settled into our schedule, which means that the alarm goes off at 6:00am, and the cat goes off at 6:02am. She waits patiently outside the bedroom door and happily follows us around as we start our day. She has brought a happy peace to our home, and for me (I live with anxiety issues) calming her down when she's upset forces me to focus on something, breathe deeply, and calm down too. She is very in tune to everyone's emotions, but seems to really connect to my energy levels and reacts accordingly. She is my therapy kitteh.

Thank you all so much for rescuing her and bringing her into my life. I don't know what I ever did without her! :)

Love always,
Jesse

Jake

Hi there,

Here are some pictures of Jake, whom my husband and I adopted a few weeks ago. Enjoy!

Dotty (now Gracie)

Here is a picture of our sweet love Gracie (formerly known as Dotty). She is in her bed. She sleeps with me every night. I loved her from the night we brought home. We ALL adore her. I thank God that your facility cared enough to save her precious life with an expensive surgery.

Again...thanks for ALL your shelter does.

Dexter

Hi all,

Dexter is the most wonderful cat.  Seems to not have any issues adjusting or being a terrific addition to our family.  He does stairs and anything else he decides he wants to move to vertically!

We are so grateful to have found him and to your wonderful care of him before he became our special companion.

Sylvester

"Sylvester contemplating the meaning of life."

For those of you who remember Sylvester, I thought you would enjoy this picture of him. He and Rowley are doing fine.

Tux (now Jasper)

Hi, just wanted to let you know how Jasper (aka Tux) is doing.

He is a great little dog who loves to cuddle and go for sprints in the back yard. He also likes to play "tag" with his feline sister Clara (also a Homeward Pet alumni) where they take turns chasing each other.  His favorite toy is a stuffed squeaky beach ball and he does not like to hold still long for pictures unless he is asleep.  He is learning all about new places and things and loved his first trip to the pet store with so much to sniff, he is still a little shy around new things but is gaining confidence. We just love him and are so grateful that Homeward Pet helped us find our new family member.

Nibbler (now Shadow)

We wanted to thank you so much for all that you did getting Shadow to us (formally known as Nibbler). We adopted him in January, and ever since Shadow has had his mommy and daddy wrapped around his little paw! After enjoying the Doggy Haven classes, we got Shadow adjusted to our home and our 21 year old cat rather well. Shadow received the love and attention he needed to break some nibbling behavior, but all is good and he is truly a member of our family and we are so blessed to have found him. We named him Shadow since he followed Neil, my husband, around everywhere he went. They are inseparable. Shadow loves the water and playing with his chuck- it balls.

With having such a high energy lab, we joined the Puget Sound Dockdogs group and Shadow has participated in a few competitions so far, the Puyallup Spring Fair, The Bite of Seattle, The Clark County Fair and soon the Issaquah Salmon Days on OCT 5 and 6th. The picture of him in the wagon is with the medals from the Clark County Fair. His new personal best is 17 feet 2 inches, which I am sure he can beat in Oct. We need to work on holding our stay and speed, but soon I am sure he will be jumping 20 feet plus!

Monkey

Hi. Just wanted to give you guys an update on Monkey, who we adopted June 14, 2013. He was dignosed with a severe heart condition when we first got him, but on medication he's gained more energy and seems healthier overall. He's adjusted really well to life with us. He likes to sleep under the bed and play with plastic bottle caps, his favorite toys.

Night Rider (now Kizmet)

Kizmet is fitting well into his new home. He gets along with his new family, to include his new brother and sister. He is playful and very curious. Well loved by his new family. Kizzy had his first checkup yesterday. Does not like shots. He had a clean bill of health and is growing up fast. Here are just a few of his pictures.

We want to thank you for all you do. Thanks for bringing such joy to our family. Kizmet is a blessing after losing  our little Topper, after 15 years of Love.

Gabriel (now Teddy)

Gabriel (now Teddy) is doing well!  I'm starting to see little bits of his personality come through.  I have taken him on a lot of walks for exercise, but also to get him familiar with the area.  He's good on his walks but is a bit of a pee'r.  He sleeps with me at night and goes in the car to run errands.

Thanks for checking in!

Bing Clawsby (now Bo)

It looks like this guy was adopted from us some time ago, and he is now thriving! His new owner, Linda, has this to say:

"He's been called Bo'sum, "Bo" for short, since the day we brought him home. He joins Luigi, who we also adopted from you! Luigi (a tabby, previously named Juno) and Bo are the best of pals and get along well, including grooming each other! They are super adorable!

I think they are happy in our home, everyone who stops by can't believe how socialized they are! They don't run and hide, they are front and center, rolling over on their backs and showing off! Bo even plays catch with me!"

Earl (now Cosmo)

Earl is great, he is the most loving dog I have ever owned. He does have separation anxiety, so he comes to work with one of us every day, and he cries/whines when he doesn't see one of us. We are hoping this goes away in time.

At first our other dog Kona was protective of food and treats, but Earl (Cosmo) has learned to go behind the recliners with his treats. Kona doesn't go back there since he somehow caught one of his tags in a power strip and got a shock. Cosmo is so cute, when we are walking the trails at lunch and a jogger runs by, he will jog with them as far as the extendable leash will go (6 ft), they get a kick out of it. Even when he growls at a new person, they don't mind because he is so cute and tiny.

Susie

Thanks for allowing us to adopt Susie! We are all enjoying each other and so happy to have her in our family. What a great experience!

Jude (now Banjo)

Thanks so much for helping us find our sweet boy.

Banjo (formerly Jude) LOVES the beach! He ran, splashed in the water, and dug in the sand like he was born to be a salty dog.
