Pancake

We absolutely adore and love Pancake.  Pancake and my family *love* going for harness walks in the back yard (getting the harness on is an entirely different matter, however...).  And he and I have a special cuddle time at midnight when everyone else is asleep. He is perfect with the kids; and a sweeter, more playful, and wonderful cat I have never met. Thank you for letting him be part of our family.

Sincerely,
Miranda

Dorothy (now Abby)

Abby sure has made herself at home since her adoption in April! She is a lovable and intelligent dog, not to mention extremely stubborn and prone to taking flying leaps over the couch! Abby enjoys her snuggle time and loves every person she meets. She is an energetic and curious puppy - and she has recently discovered the joy of digging holes. Abby has formed special and unique relationships with each member of the family and regards our 12-year-old as her personal puppy playmate. The trademark tear in her right ear (thanks to a littermate) is a great conversation starter at dog parks!

We really enjoyed our obedience classes at Doggy Haven. All of us benefited from the training and it was awesome socialization practice for Abby.

Thank you, Homeward Pet! We're so happy to have found Abby!

Abby's family has said:
"We would be happy to hear from Abby's brothers and sisters. :)" and has asked the adopters of Abby's littermates to contact Homeward Pet (adopters@homewardpet.org) for their email if they are so inclined.

Vitani

We adopted Vitani about 3 weeks ago and she is loving her new home! She settled in right away and while she does tend to chase the cats when she gets excited, it is only because she wants them to play with her. We got her some fun toys to play with but her bone is currently her favorite. We found a great dog park nearby and she loves going there to socialize and play chasing games. She is extremely fast on those short little legs! We couldn't have asked for a better dog, she is perfect for our household.

Thanks for all the great work you guys do!

SAM

Let me tell you a love story.  About a huge heart in a little fur body.  About a spirit not phased by a hard life on the streets.  A very sweet, very wise dog who rescued two lost souls, choosing them for his pet parents.  Giving them unconditional love, as a companion and friend, as a presence during sickness, as a giver of peace and solace on a grief journey.

From the beginning, Sam chose Rocky.  There was never a doubt in Sam’s mind that he was meant to be with Rocky.  He was never afraid of Rocky’s crutches or wheelchair.  He was with Rocky everywhere, even at hospice the day before Rocky passed away.  Since then, Sam has been my constant companion:  going with me to work, always sleeping on Rocky’s side of the bed, watching my every move.  He has been my Rock since losing my Rocky.

Now, on this 6-month anniversary of Rocky's passing, both of my sweet boys are together in Heaven, looking down on me, and sending me their love.

We (speaking for Rocky, too) will always be grateful to Homeward Pet for rescuing our Sam.  To future adopters:  Never be afraid of adopting a senior pet.  When you look through those sweet eyes, you will see an angel inside!

Bruce

Bruce is doing fabulously in his new home! I took him home for a kennel break, and though it wasn’t planned for, he never came back.

He really is a totally different dog than we ever thought he was while here at the shelter. He plays fetch, he’s been a breeze to train, and he’s a huge cuddlebug. He was even crate and potty trained, which was unknown until he came home with me. He loves to meet other dogs while out on his walks, but we’re still working on him with people; he likes who he knows and that’s about it right now, but we’ll get there! He’s currently coming in to work with me, so if you’re ever in during our weekend adoption hours you’ll probably see him hanging out.

We could not have asked for a better dog. My boyfriend and I could not be happier!

Neil (now Buccaneer)

This little guy stole our hearts at Homeward the minute he started "prancing" up on his hind legs in his cage while we strolled through the kennels. His one-eyed little face was additionally endearing. His personality is amazing!  He's playful and full of energy when it's playtime.  His favorite thing to do is chew on toys or a stick.  Fetch and chasing a ball is a close second!
He follows me everywhere and has earned the name "velcro pup".  He's been very well trained and is an incredibly obedient little guy.  We often say that someone took a lot of time and care of him before he ended up in the shelter.  What a sweetheart of a dog.
This is our first dog and we couldn't be more pleased. Thank you for your work that made his adoption possible.

Heidi (now Daisy)

We adopted Heidi in January 2013, her name is now Daisy.  Daisy had separation anxiety and needed to be with her parents pretty much all the time. We are happy to report that our little Daisy goes to work with us every day and is adapting to her new life quite well. She is with us practically 24/7 and we all seem to be quite happy!

Thanks so much for providing us with this exceptional family member! She is very loved and an important part of our lives!

Sincerely,
Drue
