Chester (One-Eyed Jack)

Hey all!
Four years ago this week we adopted Chester (formerly One-Eyed Jack) from Homeward Pet.  We just wanted to send you a note (and picture of course) that he continues to be a sweet, hiliarious and amazing part of our family.  We are still so grateful that you guys took care of him before we could give him his forever home!

Walter & Millie: Christmas 2012

Happy Holidays to each of you!
Walter came to join our family about a week ago. He and Miss. Millie had 2 play dates at Homeward Pet where I have the opportunity to volunteer each week. Walter is about 5 years old and is part Chihuahua and part Corgi. We are working on his potty training and he's wearing a super cool turquoise diaper in addition to his new spring sweater. Miss. Millie is sporting her new Spring look too.

Walter and Millie are literally the loves of my life. I almost cannot recall what life was like before they arrived in my heart and in my home.

Volunteering with Homeward Pet, adopting Miss. Mille and Walter, I have a richer life now than I did 365 days ago when I was relocating here from Spokane.

I remain blessed and I wish nothing but the best for all of you.
MWAH! (that's dog for big wet kisses)

Ruby [formerly Lena]

We've been meaning to email some photos of Ruby... Ruby Adams [named for a character played by Jean Harlow.]  At Homeward, she was known as "Lena."  Since we adopted her, in Feb of 2012, she has brought so much joy to our home.  She's very sweet & spends most of her time flitting between "her humans" to see what we are doing [she's a busybody], gazing out of the windows [watching squirrels, rabbits, birds, and the neighbors, again- busybody], and cuddling with various and assorted stuffed animals around our home.  She's very talkative and will have long conversations with any human who asks "whatcha doing?" or "how ya doing?"  We have two 13-year old cats and Ruby is very gentle with them; she has befriended one [Maggie the Cat] and the other one pretty much is Ruby's personal stalker [Baby Jane- she peers around corners & doors just to stare, wide-eyed, at Ruby- yes, it's creepy!]  Ruby's favorite spot is behind whichever human is sitting in the computer chair [we scoot forward a few inches and she squeezes into the space.]  She's just wonderful and we can't believe how well she adapted to our home; we constantly comment that it's like we raised her from 'kittenhood.'

Thanks,
Jan

Madeline

Here is an update on "Maddie":

Madeline just turned 4 months old on Dec 17th. She is almost 5 pounds. She is thriving and adjusting very well!  She's matured so much and is no longer the shy, nervous kitty who used to avoid people. She is so social now and loves being the center of attention. She is super active and eating so well! I think she is going to be a BIG cat.  Our vet is very impressed with her growth, health/weight, agility and all the stories about her clever shenanigans :-)  She is all up to date with her shots.

"Maddie" is so cuddly and affectionate :) When she purrs, it sounds like a large motor boat!!!

She loves getting brushed. She is getting used to: 1) car rides in her carrier, 2) getting baths 3) getting her teeth brushed (which at this point is just a behavior training exercise for when her adult teeth come in)

Maddie is mainly on wet food (a very hight end canned food), and gets some dry food (as supp. to her diet)
She loves to drink out of her glass, not her bowl ... it is tooo cute!

She loves her heated bed and loves to store her favorite fuzzy toys in it after she plays with them! One of her favorite toys: crumbled up paper balls... preferably from junk mail!!

Merry Christmas!

Floyd (AKA Booger)

Dear Peggy and everyone at Homeward Pet,
We just wanted to thank you for giving us our wonderful bloodhound Floyd (previously booger). He is such a sweet dog and we love him very much! He gets 2 long walks a day and plenty of training and treats. He is a very happy boy.
About 2 weeks after we got Floyd we decided he needed a buddy because he LOVES other dogs.  So we rescued a year-old bichon frisee that we named Philbert, and they are now the best of friends. Very obviously there is a size difference, but Floyd is such a sweet big brother and is so gentle with Philbert. They play tug of war, snuggle, and romp around outside together. They are very good boys when we leave them home alone, and we can't imagine Floyd being a more perfect gentle dog.
We love Floyd so much! Thanks for all of the wonderful work you are doing!!

Tiger

Hi - I have been meaning to send an update on Tiger for a while. We adopted him in June and he has been such a great dog. I work from home so he and I are especially close since we are together so often. Our favorite thing to do together is trail running. We did this up near Stevens Pass recently and he absolutely loved the snow. He was fairly aloof at first but he became more and more friendly over time. He does very well on leash and has always had excellent house manners.

Best to everyone at Homeward Pet,
Charles

Cassidy (AKA Lucinda)

I am reaching out to you to let you know that your green-eyed beauty, Lucinda, has found her forever home.  My husband Roger and I adopted her on October 27th and have fallen madly in love with her.  We re-named her Cassidy and call her Cassie for short.  It seems to suit her lively and loving personality with a bit of a wild west flair.

When Cassie "found" me I was actually looking for a dog.  My cat of nineteen years had recently passed away and I thought that no other cat could possibly take her place.  I had gone to Homeward Pet to look for a dog and out of the blue I asked if I could see the cats that they had.  The minute I saw Cassie it was if something in the heavens sang out to say "Here I Am!"   I knew immediately that she had to come home with me and so she did!

Cassie has an amazing personality.  She chirps to talk to us and loves, loves, loves to play!  Oh my gosh, I have never seen a cat love to play as much as she does.  She has her antics when she wants my attention and doesn't give up until we have a good round of catch the ball or chase the feather.  We have several windows that have great views of our bird feeders and she will sit in the window making ticking noises as she watches the birds totally mesmerized. At night, she settles down and curls right up next to me to sleep.  She doesn't move an inch all night.  We are convinced she is our little angel!

Thanks for taking such good care of her while she was in your shelter!!!  I can't tell you enough how much we love her!

Happy Holidays!

Ann
