Bindi (AKA Layla)

Dear Homeward pet,
Just wanted to update you on our dog. We adopted our dog on the 9th of March and we couldn't be more pleased. She came with the name Layla, but we didn't think that fit her. We found out that she is an Australian Kelpie, so we have changed her name to Bindi (in honor of Steve Irwin, the crocodile hunter's daughter.) Bindi is everything we could have wanted in a dog. She is bright and fun. She gets along great with our kitties, goes on our boat and is always ready to go to the barn or on a walk. She is definitely a great addition to our family. Thank you for all the services that you do for our pet community here in Woodinville. I tell everyone to go to Homeward pet if they are looking for a new pet for their family.

Here she is on our boat with my mother-in-law.

Best regards,
Lisa

Leonidas says hello

Good morning from The Nelson Family + Leonidas,
We wanted to express our appreciation for your help in adopting Leonidas. Within the first hour of his arrival, he found the litter box, the kibble dish, the water dish and staked his claim on his favorite sleeping spot. That spot happens to be my ample abdomen. He purrs like a ship’s diesel engine which compliments my snoring, so says the good wife.

After a few days with us, I noticed him sharpening the claws on a table leg. I found a good sized fire log and it is now his favorite scratching spot. Our couch is safe again.

Our neighbors across the way have a pair of Persian cats that sit on their fence. Leonidas can see them from the window and is plotting. We can see it in his eyes. He found a small helmet somewhere. Clever cat.

Thanks again for all your fine work.

Theodore & Pegasus

Hi,
This is Dash and his new best friend Daisy, both adopted from Homeward Pet and doing great. Dash was originally Theodore and we got him June 2011, and Daisy was originally Pegasus who we adopted about 2 weeks ago. She is already running the house and keeping Dash on his toes.

Regards,
The Schweizer Family

Sable- Renamed Zotty

This is a photo of Zotty relaxing out at the dog park.  Her coat is growing back beautifully and I love every minute with her.  She is a wonderful and happy dog.

Sincerely,
Anne

Trixie

I think that look on her face is saying, “Can’t a girl just eat her dinner without you pointing something at my head every time I look up!” “What on earth are you doing anyway”

Right now she is quietly napping on the sofa in our family room. (And Lois said they both had a long nap in her favorite chair while I was out running around on errands.)

Kaylee and Washburne (Wash for Short)

I just wanted to give you an update on a couple of kittens that my husband and I adopted from Homeward Pet.  I believe they were named Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum when you were their foster parents.  They were from the same litter, born 3/8/12.

We have renamed them Kaylee and Washburne (Wash for short).  They are adorable and very loving.  They have adjusted to their new home very well.  They were already fully litterbox trained when we got them.  I'm assuming they learned that when they were with you, so thank you.  They are very playful and cuddly.  They are growing so fast!

Thanks again for taking such good care of them.

Best,
Suzie

Geno aka "Jessie"

Here are a couple pictures of our sweet Geno (formerly Jessie). He has adjusted well and we just love him. He loves going on walks and cuddling! We couldn't be happier about adopting him. Thank you.

Chip (AKA Corky)

All is VERY well at Home for our new family-member, CHIP (Corky).

I thought you'd enjoy this picture to highlight how CHIP spends his days...
He really just wants to be loved and held - his favorite place in inside Stoane's sweatshirt, like a baby kangaroo!

He gets along very well with Karma & Packers, our other pooches, and when company has come over CHIP is quick to befriend everyone, especially if they'll hold him! He loves to 'Give 5' and shake paws.

He has come to work with me several times (I am very lucky that my office is pooch-friendly) and likes to tour the office, saying "HI" to everyone  and getting an occasional treat!

Thank you all so much for the work you do - if not for you we would have never found CHIP, he is such a great dog and friend!

Hope to see you in Duvall at the next event!

All the best,
Stoane, Dina, TJ, Karma, Packers and CHIP

Pepper

Attached is a picture of Pepper, the almost 2-year-old  beautiful beagle we brought home to Lake Forest Park on May 11th.  We are make adjustments, but things are going pretty well.  We first got her licensed in LFP, got a new bed for her, etc., and took her to our local LFP Animal Hospital to see Dr. Combs. We enjoyed our tour with Sarah, and she helped us very nicely through the process of adoption.  We are thinking of finding a dog trainer  nearby, who trained a previous dog, but if we can not find her, we will let you know.

Best wishes on all that you all do at Homeward Pet.

 –Dan and Jennifer

Cate (AKA Claire Elise)

Hello-
We adopted a tortoiseshell female kitten from you last weekend named Claire Elise (we have since named her Cate) and we LOVE her so much!!! She is such a well adjusted, sweet, trusting kitty, so thank you for socializing her, loving and caring for her. She immediately made herself home here with us and she cuddles, plays and hangs out with us all the time. She used the litterbox right away and has a ferocious appetite. We took her in for her free vet exam today and she is very healthy.

Thank you to all your volunteers and foster people. We will be donating to Homeward very soon as we are now fans!

Dennis

Waaaaaaaaaaaaay back in 2003 I was searching for the perfect companion for my puppy. I was volunteering at Homeward during this time and had heard about a yellow lab that was due to be brought in by his family. I waited and waited, but the family never brought him in. I ended up looking at countless other dogs from all the local shelters, but Mona dog was not satisfied with any of them. I had almost given up hope when FINALLY I got a call about the lab that was supposed to come in a long while before. I rushed down to Homeward with Mona and at first sight I was confused. I was sure he was a Shepherd. Sure enough, he was a registered fox red lab. He had literally been dropped off not 30 minutes before, and he was home with me the next day. Mona approved him and after 9 years he may be a little grayer, Dennis is still doing awesome at 14 years old.

Henry is doing great!

Dear Will, Claire, and Erin,

We wanted to let you know that Henry is doing great! John and I are so thrilled to have adopted him, and he and Luna are getting along fine. Each day they get a little closer (see the attached photo with the duck toy). Yesterday John installed a new, larger dog door so Henry doesn’t have to squeeze through the old one. He’s really very special, just the perfect fit for our family! He’s quite a gentleman, but he has a funny side, too. We’ve taken him with Luna on all the routes around our neighborhood and to our favorite parks. Next on the list is the dog beach! We think he’ll like it, as he made a special effort to stick his head into the water from the sprinkler the other day.

Anyway, we really appreciate everything that all of you did to make this special adoption work out for us! We feel very fortunate to have Henry as part of our family!

Anne, John, Luna, and Henry

DOLCE'S update

DOLCE'
I met Dolce (previously Dakota) during my first shift of volunteering at Homeward Pet. I literally spent the entire week thinking about her and hoping she would still be there at my next shift so that I could spend time with her, and she was!! Until that next week I had not planned on adopting again any time soon. I didn't think that my cats would tolerate her so I fostered her for a month through her illness with kennel cough and she blended in pretty well. Erin took the time to explain animal behaviorism boundaries to me which helped. I couldn't wait for her to be all mine. She is the perfect dog for me and my kitties. I am so incredibly happy with my little fur baby family! I want to say thank you to Homeward Pet for allowing me to volunteer here and for bringing Dolce into my life. She is an amazing, beautiful little dog that found her FOREVER HOME!!
Talina

Ruby

We went to Mud Bay (love this place!) and got some wet & kibble that she loves.  Fred is feeding her in the morning before work and is gentle and greats her with a lot of love so hopefully, she’ll come around.  We finally heard her bark for the first time and it was so funny.  Unfortunately, it was aimed at Fred but we tried not to laugh since it was not too fierce.

She is a great dog and is surrounded by a lot of people who love & spoil her a little J

I can’t imagine Ruby being an outside dog since she’s the perfect “inside” companion.  She loves to go for rides and enjoys sitting by the air conditioning after a walk in the sun.  Here are few pictures of Ruby with Noah our cat trying to ignore her but they’ve become friends.

Best,

Benjean

Tulip (the black one, previously "Jazz") and Pansy (the striped one, previously Dell)

We are having so much fun with our two little kittens! They are happy, healthy and growing. Attached are a few photos.
We changed their names to Tulip (the black one, previously "Jazz") and Pansy (the striped one, previously Dell).

Thank you checking in with us. If we hear of anyone that wants to adopt a pet we will surely recommend Homeward Pet.
Thank you!
Carolyn

King Tut- was once a pharoah, now a god!

You may remember me as King Tut - that's right, I was named after an Egyptian pharaoh! I spent a while as your guest and wanted to let you know how I'm doing now. You helped me get over a URI, an abcess and having some teeth pulled and, for the first time, I had plenty to eat all for ME. I was just ready to get my last dose of medicine and get out of the sick room at the shelter and then my new forever kitty parents found me and fell in love with me! They say that when I purred and nuzzled their cheeks, it was love at first purr.

After getting me home and getting to know me for a bit, my new parents thought about my name and decided that I was even more special than a pharaoh. After a lot of consideration, they gave me a new name - Horus. Now I have the same name as an Ancient Egyptian god, not just a boy king. I got a special new home and a special new name to go with it. How lucky can a young kitty get?

I'm loving life at my new home. I get a lot of attention. I do have to share my parents with the other cats in the house but they are all pretty old cats, so they think I've got just too much energy. I kept trying to get them to play with me but they just get annoyed right now. I bet I can wear them down, though. It works with the parents! My parents have discovered I never came equipped with a snooze button!

I'm not as skinny as I was when I left your care - I've put on almost two pounds and I love my squishy food. I have a ton of toys and really love my Da Bird and my springs. My parents and human brother laugh and play with me every day. I get to help my dad with his Skype conference calls, too. I'm not sure he's convinced that it's truly special to have cat participation but I try to show my lovely self to his co-workers and even talk to them. My mom is a photographer and she jokes that right now she only gets pictures of me when I'm asleep because I'm much too busy to pose at any other time.

Minka (AKA Roo)

Minka is the cat we adopted from you (you named her Roo). The other kitten is chutney (we adopted chutney from Animal Talk Rescue, 10 days before we adopted minka from you).

Both cats are doing great.

Update on Binx

I just wanted to give you an update on Binx, now known as Phoenix. :) He is doing wonderfully. He loves the kids and they love him and they all spend many hours playing "chase the feathers on a stick" and grooming each other (he loves to lick noses). From day one it has been easy -- he settled in immediately, and as you can see in the pictures has developed a beautifully shiny coat and a somewhat more mature face already. He has such a sweet personality and we are so happy he is part of our family.

Thanks for making it possible!

Kat, Ciaran, Willow, and Eleanor

Addison and Amanda

Addison and Amanda have had their visits to Sultan Veterinary Clinic.  Amanda is fine, but Addison has had sneezing/cough so they will stay apart for another week to give the antibiotic time to help her feel better.  Amanda is very talkative and bouncy.  Addison is mostly quiet and likes to peek from her safe place until she decides she wants to be petted.  Then her purring is almost as loud as Amanda's mews!  Both of them love to play with their wand toys and jingle balls.

Many, many thanks to the generous foster family, the folks at Homeward Pet and Jenny Fraley from Pasado's.

Draco (AKA Ollie) and Shady (AKA Motzart)

Hello,

My name is Pat and our family was in a couple of weekends ago and we adopted 2 kittens from you.  You knew them as “Mozart” and “Ollie” and I am writing you to tell you that they are doing fantastic and they are enjoying their new home immensely.  They are CONSTATLY playing and wrestling with one another (I just wish they didn’t do it at 2am J) and get along as if they were litter mates.  We have another kitten we got from the Humane Society in April who is 5 months old and female and she is just starting to warm up to them.  WE also have 2 older Labradors (6 and 13) and the cats don’t mind them, and vice versa.

They have been a fantastic edition to our home as we just lost our previous 2 cats after 17 years, so starting over has been a lot of fun.  In fact, as I type this (literally) crawling over my desk and swiping at the keys on my keyboard.

We have renamed them Draco (as in Malfoy from Harry Potter) (Ollie) and Shady (Mozart) and they are just starting to respond to their names.  I’ve attached a couple of pictures I took from the other night for your reference.

Thanks again for all you do, and for our 2 new ‘children’ J

Pat

Update on Bob

We adopted our big beautiful Bob from you in January so I suppose it is time for a six month update! Bob is a DLH Maine coon mix so he is just huge, I mean big, he has maintained a hefty 17 pounds of toy-chasing muscle. He was so shy when we brought him home all he did was hide in the pantry and under the covers in our bed. Slowly he came out of his shell, becoming 100% of the cat we knew he would be. He has learned to play, only by himself at first, but then with toys on strings, and slowly working up to play with us up-close, now he even fetches if we use his special favorite toy. He recently had a haircut, trimmed his body down to 1" for the warmer months, leaving him with his mane and tail tip, to no avail, his fur is half way grown back already. He is king of the house now, always at our sides, singing to us and carrying on about cat thing in his loudest voice, which we encourage fully. Every day he surprises us with some way of showing us he truly is the best cat in the universe. Thank you so much for having beautiful creatures like this available for adoption.

Thank you! Piper rocks

I can’t tell you how much we love Piper. She is quickly adapting and has done well with our older cat. They’ve had 3 encounters and talked and backed off. She holds her ground which is great. Link (our 5 year old cat) is dealing with her well.

The foster parents did a wonderful job. We couldn’t be happier.  She is so bold and social.

We’ve attached a picture of her sitting in Greg’s lap.

Brutus

I just wanted to send a thank you note for matching me up with Brutus! I absolutely could not ask for a better companion and well mannered dog! After becoming part of an unexpected long distance relationship, Brutus has been the best company anyone could ask for. Any time of day he is excited to see me and everyone that has met him has said I got so lucky with such a cute, friendly dog. He is quite a head turner at the park!

Thanks again for everything you do and I have spoken very highly of your assistance with adopting my first dog! You are definitely the Nordstrom of Animal Shelters :)

A couple pictures- I only had about 100 to pick from!

Cairo

Hi,

Just writing to give you an update on Cairo. As you can see from the photos below, he is having a good time being spoiled. He still is getting used to the dog, but we think they'll tolerate each other since they can hangout in the same room. He's a great cat. Very loving, playful and sweet. Our family is so happy that we adopted him.

Here are some pictures of Cracker (who is now Bilbo -- Bilbo Bagby) and Emma napping together.  We think they will be friends for life.

Bilbo is so sweet - he's a purring machine.  He loves everyone.
