Meishka & Nicky

We fostered Meishka & Nicky and after having them in our home for one weekend, we decided to adopt both of them. They are the sweetest two Chihuahuas ever.

Tommy

Hello, Homeward! It's been a few months since we adopted Tommy, and we couldn't have made a more perfect choice. He is a loving, affectionate cat when he feels safe. His favorite part of the evening is when I go to bed, and he perches himself on my shoulder while I read. He just loves to feel close to someone, getting belly rubs, and is a constant cuddler.

I was looking for the perfect therapeutic companion, as school life has been incredibly stressful for us. Tommy's sweet and patient nature has been just what we needed, and I believe the therapy's mutual. For all of his sweetness, he came to us a bit neurotic and incredibly skittish. For weeks after we had gotten him, he would run away at the slightest sound or movement. In the first days, he would hide in the bathtub and hiss when we came in, but he would never attack. I was always able to pick him up and comfort him, and he soon stopped hiding in the bathroom.

Taking one day at a time, he's finally felt safe enough to roam the apartment like it's his home. We've been gently encouraging him with lots of love and comfort, and he's finally starting to let go of his skittishness. He always stays by my side at the computer, and loves getting brushed. He even lets me trim his claws with complete trust. He's no longer the frightened cat we had adopted, and has become more and more the perfect match for us. We're very thankful to have found him at Homeward!

Chester (the dog formerly known as Pepe)

Our newest family member must know he has finally found a forever home!

After only five days, he also knows his new name is "Chester" and comes immediately when we call him, full of kisses to share. It's as if he is doing his best to make a good impression, but we keep telling him he can relax and stop trying so hard because we will always love him unconditionally.

Here are a few pictures of the new threesome - with Chester in his red signature color!

Thank you to everyone at Homeward Pet for saving this precious little life, as Chester will bring our family and many others who meet him over the years much joy!

Guinness formerly Brownie

Hello to all the wonderful people at Homeward Pet,
You probably remember me as "Brownie" but my forever Mom and Dad changed my name to Guinness. I'm black and tan, hence my new name. I was adopted towards the end of June, 2010 and I have a wonderful life filled with all the love a dog could ever have. Since I'm still young and a very active little boy I require lots of exercise and play time. A routine day for me would be Mom and me taking Dad to work, then we head to the dog park where Mom and I walk for about 2 miles and play with the other dogs. I also have a nice back yard where I run and play. Later in the afternoon, Mom and I go for another walk, usually 3 miles. In the evening, Mom and Dad and I have dinner followed by more play time. I have lots of toys and tennis balls to play with and sometimes I just enjoy napping in the living room with my parents. I'm well adjusted to my new life and having a wonderful time being spoiled, traveling, taking car trips to our other home in Southern Oregon where I get to run
on the beach and play in the ocean. My Mom and Dad are so thrilled they found me because I have made their home complete. I'm now about 16 months old, healthy and happy. Thank you to all the staff that took care of me and please know that I'm doing well.

Congee's 3rd birthday

is coming up in a week and we wanted to let Homeward Pet know how great the last 2.5 years with this guy has been! He is the perfect companion, pillow, and protector we could have ever asked for. He's been a great big brother for the past year to our two cats (Mochi and Shabu, who we found on petfinder.com) and makes new friends on the street and the dog park every day.

We can't believe how lucky we are to have them all in our lives and love our four-legged family members. Thanks again, Homeward Pet for being such a great organization!

Prim

Just wanted to send you an update on Prim, the white nose torbi female, 3 months old I adopted about 5 weeks ago.  She is now known as Squeakers.  She adjusted easily to her new home and loves her sister Amber (8 month old puppy).  They even nap together.  She is very vocal, loves food, and is very playful and curious.  She will grow to be a great cat, and she is loved very much.  She has found her forever home and hopefully will live to be at least 18 yo like my last kittie, Mattie!!

Another Power Nap

Our kitties work hard to conserve their strength and recharge whenever possible.
Amelia and Ginger Rogers came home with us from Homeward Pet a couple of years ago. We were still grieving Miss Kitty, who had been with us, and grown up with our daughter, for fourteen years. As soon as Ginger Rogers came home, her girl renamed her Winston. And since the bigger white and "camel" colored kitty needed to match, she became Jo Camel. After another year or so, the kitties got a dog for their pet. The have been teaching the dog discipline for a while now, and they love to chase her around the house. The only difference is that when the kitties have had enough indoor time, they get to go outside and roam free, while their dog has to stay on her leash. Oddly enough, the kitties always return for dinnertime. Thank you, Homeward Pet!

Marshal Wampuss

Just a quick update on Marshal Wampuss. He's again proving he's way smarter than is comfortable for the bipeds in his life. The drawing by our friend Catherine tells the story of him getting into an upper cabinet in the kitchen, pulling out his food (he's on a diet, the vet's orders), dropping it to the ground and helping himself!

Other than thwarting all attempts at curtailing his eating, he's doing marvelously, he loves all attention, still plays catch and fetch and is really hoping he can figure out how to get the fish out of the tank (biped note: we really hope he doesn't figure that one out!). We've also attached a photo of him "helping" with the laundry.

Thank you for helping Marshal Wampuss find us. He keeps us on our toes!
