Lexi Update

Dear Homeward Pets,

We adopted Lexi a year ago (August 2009) and want to give you an update on how she's doing.

Lexi is now 1 year and 4 months old. She is a very energetic and happy puppy. She gets her excersize by going on walks, runs, hikes and swims with us. She is completely housebroken, trained and knows lots of tricks. We love her and make sure to spend lots of time with her. Lexi likes to play and meet other dogs and people. Attached are some photos of Lexi in her "beg" pose and how she's grown. We enjoy our wonderful dog very much.

Thank you for all your hard work, we will keep you updated on how she's doing,
Tatiana, Anastasia and Vlad.

Stitch finds his forever home

Laurel,

Here are some pictures of Smaug (formerly Stitch) with his new brother Smokie. As you can see, they have bonded and it's good to see Smokie play.
Smaug is entertaining us all. He is behaving around the Christmas tree too (so far).

Kada's new home

Hi,

We just wanted to let all of you know well Kada (we call her Kady now) likes her new home.  She met her big brother and they got along great from the start.  She was dashing around like crazy in no time.  Soon after she started going up to big cat for baths, so he is her unofficial mother now.  She copies what he does, including perching on the dresser when the bathroom door is closed, sitting with him when he heads for the heater vent, etc.  They take turns bouncing each other.  Even though he is humongous, she isn't bothered and just goes back for more.  When it's sleepytime she cuddles up and sleeps on him (usually on our bed).

So she is a wonderful addition to the family, keeping her brother company when we're away.   She is also really affectionate with our 3 year old granddaughter when she visits, not fearful at all.  (sometimes, she should be!)

Her gunky eye has been resolved with a couple of visits to Cottage Lake Veterinary for an ointment with a corticosteroid and some antiviral gel.

Thanks for introducing her to us!

Dash and Mouse

We adopted Mouse (Orange and white tabby) and Dash (Gray and white tabby) together in August 2010. We are so glad we adopted them together! Even though they are not brothers, they are never with out each other. They have made our family so happy, and because they are kittens, they make us laugh all the time with everything they do. We can't even get mad when they are being naughty....because they are so cute.
We are looking forward to spending Christmas with them....and watching them bat all the decorations on the tree!

Meow Meow and Pollocks!

I adopted Meow Meow and Pollocks on Friday. I thought I would send in some pictures from this weekend to show you all that they are settling in well.  Meow Meow and my 80 lb dog have come to an understanding. He does whatever she wants, and she sleeps on him.  She and Pollocks are getting a long great, no fights, just normal kitten wrestling. I think that sometimes I catch him rolling his eyes as she once more attempts to show him who is boss by jumping him when he is almost asleep.

She is indeed a spitfire, and we are thinking of renaming her Ripley, in honor of Ellen Ripley from the Alien movies. We figured she could easily live up to the name of such a strong female character.

To my surprise Pollucks is the loud one.  Meow Meow only gets vocal when I am cooking. Apparently all meals are being made for her, and I had better hurry up with the serving.  Pollucks however has this tendency to wander into another room and then cry like the world was ending. I thought this was strange till I realized that he does this to lure Meow Meow into the room then he jumps her.  We are thinking of naming him after a character from the TV show Firefly, but have not quite settled on it yet.

As I said they are getting along great.

Please pass my thanks onto Amy, she was wonderful and patient, and very helpful in helping me make the right decision.

Thanks again, and I will keep sending photos.

Marina!

HI! over a year ago I adopted Marina who I renamed Maggie, a beautiful black cat who has been a fabulous cat for me. She has definitely bonded with me and I cant imagine life without. She was lonely all by herself so I have got a couple of friends for her now and she is much happier.

Sam

Meet Sam, the most adorable, sweetest 10-year old "puppy" you would ever want to meet!

We had just lost our almost 17-year old miniature poodle, CJ, and thought that we would wait a while before we got another dog or cat. But, after a week, my husband was really missing CJ, so we started looking for a dog. We narrowed our search down to 2 small dogs: Sam and a miniature poodle at another rescue shelter. We got to meet Sam first on Friday night. He "chose" us from the very beginning, and we thought he was adorable. Amy said that she had not seen Sam take to anyone on the first meet and greet like he did with us. Unfortunately, we had made a commitment to meet the other puppy, so we had to leave Sam at Homeward. He was quite disappointed and did not understand why he was not going home with us. It broke our hearts to leave him. We did not get to meet the other dog due to schedule issues. so we came back on Sunday to get Sam. What a joyous reunion it was!

Actually, we were all meant to be together! He is such a perfect fit for our family. Sam is so calm and mellow, and is not afraid of my husband's wheelchair or crutches. He gets along so well with our 2 kitties. Sam knows basic commands and is really the perfect gentleman. He is also a great companion for my husband, who is home all day. One of Sam's favorite places is in his Dad's lap, as you can see.

Thank goodness Homeward Pet saved Sam! We will be always grateful to Amy and everyone there! We totally love Sam and he has his forever home with us! Sometimes the rescuer ends up being the rescued! Thanks, Sam!

Love,
Rocky and Lu aka "Dad and Mom"
