Update on Sinatra

I thought you would like to know how well Sinatra has progressed since September. We are still using the pheromone plug-ins but his attacking and biting has substantially slowed down. Now if he bites, he turns around and licks as if to say "I just can't control myself and I'm sorry." He loves the desert and is going outside but only goes next door and our backyard. There is a standard sized Schnoizer (can't spell) that loves to sneak over and play with Sinatra! When we go back home to Edmonds in June, I'll have to re-train him on our backyard there (we didn't allow him out at all before we left for Southern California). I'm sure he'll do well, but I promise to be extra careful. We did give up on trying to teach him not to get up on the kitchen counter. We did everything - my husband even put HUGE amounts of foil on the counter (as you can see in the picture) and Sinatra would still get up and lay down in the middle of it!! Oh well. Anyway, here are some pictures of him. The one with him asleep on my husband's computer was published in the local paper down here. Most everyone in our resort knows him and we received lots of feedback from our neighbors!! We love him dearly and my husband keeps saying he's one lucky cat . . . I truly don't think most people would have put up with his behavior, but I was determined and it has paid off. Sherry

No'a (Buddy)!

My name is No'a (aka Buddy) and I'm really diggin my new home.  I have 2 sisters.  One says I can stay if she can have the bed that the parents bought for me (see pic 1).  The other one, well...she makes a lot of really cool noises, so I run up to her and stop short just to hear them.  They call me Psycho Kitty and say I'm like velcro because I jump and stick to things (see pic 2).  Mom says the only good pics they really have of me are when I'm asleep in the rest of them I'm just a blur because I'm always moving so fast.  Oh, and I'm eating well and pooping and peeing in the box...thanks for asking.  Thanks for finding me a sweet pad!!!

Billy (Kona)!

Kona/Billy seems to be suffering zero anxiety about the big move.  She is snoring happily at my feet just now.  We have an appointment with the local SPCA vet on Saturday to get her checked out.  She is socializing well with other dogs and her biggest challenge looks like it will be staying off the strangers we meet.  That and the snoring.

Thanks again for the great pooch.

Weasley!

Weasley is doing very well.  He's eating, playing, drinking and pooping like he should be.  Our local VCA in Bellevue has agreed to honor the voucher you gave us and we have an appointment set for tomorrow afternoon.  So far so good.

I've attached photos.

Mac & Jack (Shade and Shadow)!

Hi everyone.

Just wanted to let you know that Mac and Jack are doing well.  They're still settling in, and come out to visit more after my kids have gone to bed.  They're incredibly loving and HUGE purr machines.  They went to the Vet today (Tuesday the 23rd) so are doing a little more hiding than usual, but I expected that.  They got a clean bill of health.  The Vet said that Mac is not obese, just a BIG kitty; and that Jack has a heart murmur that may or may not need treatment.  I have renamed them too.  Mac is now Shade because he relaxed faster and would just chill around our house like you would chill under a shady tree.  Jack has been renamed Shadow because he is (usually) as skittish as one's own shadow on a partly cloudy day.  I haven't seen them playing with their toys yet, but on the first night my husband told me that Shadow/Jack was tearing through our house doing his best NASCAR impersonation.

Neither one has jumped into my lap yet, but I think it will come.  Shade/Mac will stay if I pick him up, put him in my lap and pet him.  Shadow/Jack will jump up next to me and practically fall off the couch head first to get as much of himself petted at one time as possible.  Shadow/Jack will also tell me all about it when I'm in the kitchen.  He's also managed to get himself stuck under my daughter's bed twice.

I think with more time here, and not in the busy shelter life they'll turn into quite the cuddle cats.

Homeward Pet Adoption Follow-Up

Jamie is doing great, very loving, has become a lap dog, loves to sit on someones lap, in the rocking chair, by the hour, all 60 pounds of her. We finish classes at Doggy Haven this Wed. She still needs to work on socializing with other dogs, some she is fine with, others she barks at, no problems with people.

Peanut (Chico)!

Chico, now known as Peanut, is just amazing! We are a perfect fit! We just love him!

We are actually going to the vet this afternoon.

Thank You so much... I will recomend your shelter to others!

Zoey is doing amazing!!! she has adjusted so good! We are so happy she is ours! She loves when her daddy takes her on long walks almost everyday and she loves going to petco or petsmart!  she has done well with other dogs we have met and even cats!  She is definitely the apple of our eyes!  And she is definetly a bed hog! But we're willing to accomidate her cute little face.

We have gone on a few hikes with her and she is so good off lease. She loves to run around on trails and smell everything. We also discovered she loves water! she played in a creek this past week and had a blast!

Tomorrow is going to be her first camping trip with us! we are very excited to see how much she enjoys it!

I have attatched a picture of her now. Doesnt she Look happy?

Thank you so much for letting us adopt her and for saving other animals in need

Love,
Samantha and Zoey

Keeva!

Hi,

Keeva is doing great! She is in puppy classes and puppy playgroup at Barkz in Kirkland. And we are registered for more classes through Sidekick starting in April. She's completely potty trained (well, except for one accident in the past two weeks). She sleeps through the night - Yay!

Here are a couple of recent pictures. The first one is with her friend, Cody, and the second is sharing Kirby's bed (he's our 14 year-old lab). She's not usually still very long so we have to take the pictures when she's tired.

Tucson (Tucan)!

Hi,

Tucan (now Tucson) is doing great, he really is perking up more and more each day. He plays with the cats and the kids very well and we are just loving him in the house with us very much. You would not believe it was him from a month ago when he was just a little shy boy in your adoption center. We are looking forward to many years with him in our family and yes we are taking training classes from Sidekick and happen to know one of the gals there so that was nice. We will have to bring him down for a visit sometime as currently we are looking for a playmate for him and have our eye on a couple of other rescue dogs out there.

Thanks,

Doug

Savvy (Emma)!

Just wanted to let you know that Emma is doing great! We renamed her Savvy because she rules the house! She is very playful and so sweet. As soon as I saw her I knew she was the right kitty for me.

Curious George!

Curious George is loving life with his two new roomates.  He loves to wake me up at 4:30am to lick my nose and make sure I know he's still here.  His new favorite place is in front of the fireplace, when it is on.  He has too many toys to choose from on occasion. When he thinks I've studied too much, or he's simply bored, he jumps on my computer and refuses to leave me alone until he gets attention.  He has adjusted well and is quite content. I will send photos soon.

Nicole

Tinker!

Tinker just wanted to drop a note and let you know she is adjusting very well.  She has been to see the doctor at Evergreen Holistic twice now, once for her initial visit and the second time for the rest of her shots.  Tinker does NOT like getting her temperature checked.  Tinker is scheduled for classes at Doggy Haven Resort starting next month.  She is almost completely house/kennel trained though.  She is very smart.  She is learning 'down', 'up' and 'sit' already.  She loves to play fetch, and it didn't take long for her to catch on to that game.

She loves to snuggle with everyone on the couch, but the Doctor said she would easily reach 75lbs (she gained 8lbs in her first 28 days with us).  Now Tinker has her own spot on the couch and her very own couch blankie.   She will be going to the dog park next weekend for the first time.  She loves nothing more than getting to play with her uncle Asher (a 98lbs, 7 year old terrier/pit mix).

Natasha and Dini!

I wanted to thank you once again for what has become the joy in our lives. =)

We adopted Natasha and Dini (formerly known as Jessie) right before Christmas. They were actually my Christmas present and I love them so much!  They have adjusted very well and are just an ABSOLUTE JOY to have around.  Both girls have seen the vet and are in perfect health and very settled in - - they both seem more than happy =)   I have attached photos for you - they are a couple of glamor girls!

Natasha

loves to play. play. play.

fun silly little girl who will strike up playtime any chance she gets!

I have learned to guard my earrings (yes the ones in my ears!) and all necklaces as well....

she is a sneak attack kitty for sure!

Dini (short for "Houdini")

She's still a bit shy, but she's sneaky shy

She is a complete escape artist and will test you when you least expect it.

The day we adopted her, we were not more than 5 minutes down the road and this girl,

she'd managed to claw and chew her way right out of her cardboard/temporary kitty carrier!

she clawed, chewed and kicked her way right out of that box, it was quite hilarious

They get along very well, often rubbing nose to nose to say "hi"

They are very sweet and I am so so so glad we found them. (or did they find us?)

More than anything I want to thank you for your services, many thanks to all involved....

Yes you are helping the animals, but in a way you are helping us humans too

It is appreciated!!!

Have a great day, enjoy the photos of my beautiful girls

Jamie

WhoDat!

We love our new kitty who is now called “WhoDat” cat.  J  She is a sensitive soul and we think she will need some time to feel completely comfortable here.  We will give her all the time she needs and keep things calm and gradual for her as she learns about us and her new home.  J

Here are a couple pictures from yesterday.  We think she is beautiful!

Sincerely,

Ivy and Kathryn

Nancy!

Hello Homeward Pet - Here's a picture of our Nancy (your Copper)in her
new home, which she shares with 4 feline roommates (and us). Thanks for
taking care of her and letting her come home with us.
Dick and Holly

Nico!

Thank you soooo much for this amazing dog!!!  Nico is an absolute treasure, and I think he is really enjoying his new home!  Lot's of walks, attention, TREATS and love here at the house and he's even found a new best friend in Kiddo, the golden retriever that my roommates have.  Kiddo has even become much calmer and less prone to "getting in trouble".

Hope all is well down at the adoption center!! Good luck with everything!!!

Nico and I will come and visit soon and I've already begun amassing photos of my new buddy.

Chester!

Just want to let you know that things are going well with Chester (we adopted him from you Sunday). He had his first vet appointment today and is doing well. He is heading towards his healthy weight already, is eating, drinking, using his litter box.  He is a great cat. He meows a lot at night probably due to him still adjusting....but he is doing tummy rolls and seems pretty happy!
thanks for taking such good care of him (even if you did just have him for 2 days!)

Jasper!

Jasper has been a wonderful addition to our home and is fitting in quite nicely to his life of luxe.  He has been great with our kids, ages three and six, and they adore him.  The feeling is mutual, 90% of the time!  He is one of those cats that thinks he is a dog.  He comes when you call and waits for you at the door when you arrive home.  My daughter comes home from school and blows right past me to greet the cat!  Attached are a couple of pictures we wanted to share.  Thank you for providing us with such a wonderful cat!

Happy Tails - The Puppy Juno formerly known as Princess

The puppy Juno formerly known as Princess

Hello All my friends at Homeward Pet! My owners Dan and Bev wanted you to see how big I am getting. I agreed to pose for a couple of pictures so they could send you an update.

I was only 8 weeks old when Dan and Bev adopted me from your wonderful facility in September 2009. Here it is February 2010 already, and I sure have grown. I love my home and my people. Where should I begin…

I am healthy and happy. I still don’t know what breed I am. I know that I have some Siberian Husky. I certainly do have some of the traits of that breed. When I bark, I don’t just bark, I howl. Dan and Bev try to imitate me sometimes. Bev doesn’t do so well but Dan speaks my language. Whenever he howls I run and jump on him and give him a big sloppy kiss! Bev laughs and laughs. Sometimes just for no reason, I begin running through the house and jump up and kiss Bev and then Dan and then I am off again. This seems to be quite entertaining for them. Look at my BIG EARS! Everyone says, “My, what BIG EARS you have” and then they say that I am a very good looking puppy. I think I must have some German Sheppard with those big stand up ears. Bev is going to get my DNA tested to find out. She just has to know what breeds I am made up of.

I have attended and graduated from Puppy Head Start. This is a class the Humane Society offers. I completed the 6 week course with flying colors. This week February 6th I begin Puppy Manners class. This is also hosted by the Humane Society. Every Friday evening I get to go to puppy play time at the Humane Society hosted by a great trainer Cheri Yates.  I am very happy and I love to meet people and other dogs. I am still chasing the resident cats, Sierra and Gin but I am learning how to leave them alone. Treats, Treats, Treats, they do wonders helping me learn how I am supposed to behave.

Thank you all again for helping me to find such a wonderful home and for filling an empty gap in Bev and Dan’s hearts.

Your friend Juno and my owners Dan and Bev send you a great big thank you as well.
